@HouCuseChickie , can you please give me more info on the cake on the first page of this thread that has the silhouette kissing Minnie and Mickey? (size, price, etc) We may be celebrating our 15th anniversary in WDW and I am thinking of ordering a cake and I really like this one. (post #20, 4th pic down) Thanks!!

I'll do some research on it after I get the kids fed and in bed. I hope to find something tonight. If not, I can at least provide some guestimates.

Thank you!!

OK...I'm guessing you mean this cake...

I don't have the actual cost on this cake b/c this was actually delivered to the party that posted it in error. The family had ordered an anniversary cake for this meal, but just not this anniversary cake. Still, they thought it was cute so they snapped a pic before the error was corrected. I'm pretty sure this is at Kona, which means the GF bakery produced this cake. That's not to say the other bakeries probably couldn't handle this design.

It appears to be a 6" cake and assuming it's more basic flavors, I'd guess it's between $85-95. The price might come down a tad if the flowers were omitted and/or the border was changed.

Thank you so much for looking into that for me!! Do you think they may be able to incorporate the silhouettes in any way into a mini cake?

It's hard to say. Assuming these are cookie cutter they're using (i.e. they may not come in smaller sizes) I think the two silhouettes would be larger than the circumference of the mini cake when positioned in a convex fashion like this. Now, what they might be willing to do is to make them from gum paste, white chocolate, or pastillage and "glue" them to the plate or board in front of the mini cake. i.e. maybe they'd use dabs of white chocolate to make them stand up on the board in front of the cake. Ultimately, only they'd be able to tell you if this is something they're willing to do.

I wanted to post something about ordering a cake through the Contemporary...

In the early posts, I've noted working with the chefs at the Contemporary and that you'll often work with Chef Brian. I have been working with Chef Donald on my two upcoming cakes, so I started wondering if there were some changes made in the bakery. Well, I found this posted on the other Cake Chatter today...

I know it's going to sound kind of silly, but I got kind of teary eyed when I read this. I worked directly with Chef Brian for our last two cakes. Each time, I sent over a sketch that looked like nothing I'd seen from the various WDW bakeries...and each time we received a beautiful cake that really stayed faithful to the respective sketches.

I also don't want anyone to worry about ordering cakes from the Contemporary. Chef Donald has taken over the bulk of the email contact with clients and he's been really great for the cakes I ordered for our upcoming trip.

Hi there! I assume to most people all these options are really simple and they know what they're doing, but I'm having a little trouble getting my head around all this information! (Me slow XP)

We're heading to Disney for my mother's birthday, and I want to give her a list of restaurants so she can decide where we eat on that day. I also want to order her a birthday cake without her knowing to arrive at said restaurant after our meal, but I'm having difficulty working out what cakes I can get at what restaurants.

Basically, I just want this: http://imgur.com/ATDdGge
Nothing too fancy (or too expensive), just something a little bit special!

Which restaurants would I be able to get this cake delivered to? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Another thing before I forget, I live in the UK so being able to e-mail instead of call would be much easier for me!

It's a lot of info when it comes to custom cakes. I think a number of people need help with it...that's why I created this thread :) I can give you a more thorough reply later today...as it's a pain posting from my phone. 1 question... What restaurants is she considering? That will help as the process and opions vary by location.

Thank you so much!

At the minute, we're pretty much looking at whatever restaurant is in the $15-$30 price range.

The ones I've picked out are:
Yak & Yeti, Tusker House, Captain Jack's, Planet Hollywood, Coral Reef, Rose & Crown, Tutto Italia, Via Napoli, or Be Our Guest.

Be Our Guest and Rose & Crown are the ones we like most :D

You're welcome!!!

OK...BOG is going to be the easiest just from a communications standpoint. Why? Because pretty much everything is taken care of via email.
magickingdomcakes@disney.com
Screen print cakes, like the one you linked, are usually in the $15-30 range and they have a pretty wide assortment of images that can be added on the cake. The only potential hitch here is that cake storage is very limited at BOG. I've seen a few cakes here of late, so maybe they've worked out this kink. I can also tell you that the MK cake staff is a breeze to work with. We emailed last week on a cake for my mom and it was soooo easy!

Rose & Crown as well as Coral Reef have the same cake contact info and options...
Phone 407-560-6395
8" cake is the smallest option where screen prints are available and should run you about $32

Tutto Italia & Via Napoli have the same contact #...
Phone 407-560-8040
They are serviced by their own vendor and I'm not seeing screen prints in the options, so you may not be able to get what you want here

Tusker House is serviced by the DHS Bakery
Phone 407-938-3243
8" cakes are the smallest cakes where screen prints are offered and they are about $32
***Yak & Yeti does offer cakes, but you'll have to call the # above to see if they also service them (since I believe they are Landry's owned vs. Disney owned). I do know their options are more limited and I see nothing of screen prints.

As for Planet Hollywood and Captn Jack's, they are not owned by Disney, so you'd have to contact them directly for potential cake options...if any. I also think Jack's is set to close.

OK- I think this covers everything, but if it doesn't or if you have any more questions- please feel free to ask  Also- would love to see your cake once you've had your trip and please feel free to share your ordering experiences as that can help others :)

HI everyone! My question isn't technically a cake question, but I figured this was the best place to start!! I was thinking of ordering a cake that said "Welcome to Disney World Calvin and Claire" for our first ADR of our trip this February. We are having lunch at Coral Reef. However, we have the deluxe dining plan, and dessert is included, and there's crème brulee on the dessert menu. Cake is probably not a good idea. :)
I see that the kids menu has a brownie for dessert. If I ask them, will they write "Welcome to Disney World Calvin and Claire" on a plate with their brownies on it? I just really don't want to have to carry a cake around all day after lunch or even after dinner. I guess we could take it back to our resort (BCV) but I don't really want to do that. We just wanted to spend the whole day at Epcot since we won't probably get there til noon or so, and stay for Illuminations.
If they won't write on the plate, I guess we could do the smallest cake they have and just hope we eat most of it. I just CAN'T waste cake!!!!! :)
Thanks!

The decision to add cake when you've got DDP or DxDP (i.e. already getting dessert) is really up to you. Obviously, there is the practical part of it...i.e. why get cake when you're already getting dessert included? Then there's the celebratory part...i.e. will crème brulee or brownie adequately convey that festive aspect you'd had in mind?

While I don't think it's totally out of the question for them to write a message on the brownie plates, I think the odds are slim. While I've seen them do a bit more for things like birthdays and anniversaries, I've never seen them do very much over first visits. We had it all over our ADRs for our girls' first trip in 2010 and nothing was done.

You could still consider a smaller cake (like a mini or mini wedding cake) and just pack up the leftovers in a plastic container. I mean, what could be more perfect than waiting for Illumination and noshing on cake leftovers :) Another option...not sure what your first day plans are...but it would also be cute to have a cake waiting for you in your room upon arrival...consider it an arrival snack and just leave the leftovers in the room for a snack later on.

Home for the rest of the afternoon and have a few cake pics and ideas for you guys....

These first 4 - ARE NOT - Disney made cakes...BUT, they would be cute to try and incorporate into the popular Disney Mini Wedding cake size...

I love them all, but I'm particularly fond of the Sleeping Beauty one as I'm a sucker for any cake that incorporates the whole "make it pink!" - "NO, make it blue" - moments.

Next up is a lovely presentation from the AKL bakery...and they did this for just $45! They aren't as well known for their cakes, but cake sized zebra domes and animal themed cakes are big there...

The next one is more proof that cakes are finally being delivered to BOG. It's a dark pic, but it's a Rapunzel themed mini wedding cake. LOVE the sun detail on the top! This was a $50 cake...

We also have an Ariel and Prince Eric themed cake...$125 from the GF bakery.

This last one @XD0290 is a good real life example of a screen print cake (vs the brochure). This was delivered to Tony's so it had to have been made by the Contemporary bakery and ordered through Magic Kingdom cakes. Unfortunately, no price was posted for it.
