WDWMAGIC Space Mountain soft opening report and detailed overview

The idea that'd they'd ever get rid of a SPACE MOUNTAIN is ridiculous, the argument "Be glad the ride's still crummy and not gone completely" is Weapons Grade Bunk.

True.
And the whole "if you like Disneyland's better, go ride that one"....childish.

Oh, and can someone explain the FOOT.exe on one of the screens?

picture.php

The ride pics weren't correct on alpha, but omega was. I'm hoping for bucket style seats some day. My leg was smashed into the lap bar. Doesn't help my legs were way to long for the front seat in the second car. I think the main sign is having some issues right now. And yes, more paint had been peeled. There was more then the day before, which isn't good.

I'll still be riding it over the next week so we'll see what my final opinion is.

long live space mountain florida, the original! Just keeps getting better with time. Even if in baby steps.Be happy, because it could be gone just like TTA in ca. You like SM CA, then go there, but quit whining here.
Oh behave. You like cheap and mediocrity? Love Orlandos.

Horizons not a Disney Icon? Wow. :lookaroun

You have me on the instillations though...but the thought process is the same.

Horizons was the best.

Don't kid yourself though, nobody drove halfway through the country JUST to ride Horizons.

It's like insuiting they'd get rid of Splash Mountain at Disneyland. They won't. It would never even be a possibility, and it's no excuse for not keeping it up to date.

As a Californian very familiar with Disneyland's Space Mountain, and trying to skim along here to figure out what the refurbed Space Mountain is like in WDW, this short post from a knowledgeable person pretty much sums it up for me.

But I guess it's okay if it's mediocre, that just gives me more time to spend in Epcot on my next trip.

I despise this type of comment more than anything else. You like something that was done really well, well go ride it then and leave our crappy one along. If I could easily travel to Disneyland I would go there. Heck, if I had that option I'd just do Tokyo instead. However the only option I currently have for a disney park is in Orlando, and I'd appreciate if WDW would live up to the incredibly high standards it once set.

I am grateful that Space Mountain is in better shape than it was this time last year, that doesn't change the fact that it should be so much better. Its probably the flagship attraction of the park, it should be treated as such.

It's extremely annoying for the forum members who just want to come in and read about refurbs, new attractions, or just discuss WDW in general, to constantly encounter the same group of people arguing and making snide remarks to/about each other.

Fair warning.

Very much in agreement. Can we please try to keep things civil, and those of you who want to argue, take it to Private Messaging.

Thank you both, and duly noted. :)

That's probably good advice. Just because someone sees Disney failing to live up to their standards doesn't make them a jerk, and just because someone doesn't care as much as another doesn't make them an idiot either.

Both sides are certainly entitled to their opinions and should be able to share them without being attacked for them. I apologize if my previous post was overly vindictive.

Rode SM on the night of the 22nd and sadly part of the queue is already being trashed by guests. I entered the Alpha tunnel in the new stuffy room that has been added to the queue and could tell the paint on the wall is new and sticky. Other guests must have noticed because there were large chunks of paint missing all through that hall. Guests have been peeling it out of boredom and leaving all on the floor. Wish I had a pic, but I dont ever bring a camera.

This is not that big of a deal, but I thought is was worth reporting since we are all expecting a clean and fresh mountain. The only solution I see to the problem in that room is to paint over the blue paint with white paint.

Thanks for the post. I hate getting attacked when I'm taking time out of my vacation to provide opinions and information. Crazy.

Ugh... Are you serious? Why can't they keep their hands to themselves, or better yet, to the games, which I'm pretty sure were made to prevent these things.

Ugh... Oh well, let this serve as a lesson for Disney I guess. Next time they repaint something they should keep it there until it has been fully dried.

Well, at least Space Mountain has officially opened and the actual ride and some of the queue is in good shape. Now that the Space Mountain hype has slowly been dying down, I begin to wonder what's next? Could it be the upcoming Splash Mountain refurb, or could it be the Fantasyland Expansion construction which should begin shortly after about 2 months or so. Only time will tell.

On the 21st, there were barely any missing spots in that blue tunnel. And it's in need of repainting already? :brick:

The games are in the Third Tunnel, while the Alpha tunnel is WAY past that, where a CM door once was.
