**Ah ha! so many of us were quite wrong. In the early days you could see cranes during they day.

That was the first thing I thought after I noticed the crane!

Jeff, any idea the date on this photo? My guess is it was the day before Thanksgiving. Because back in the day, they didn't take a month to transform the place. It was done in a day or two; mind you they only had a few places to transform.

Unfortunately, I do not know the exact date - but it is most likely late Nov early Dec - the slide has a processing date of December 1972.

I hadn't noticed the fact that there is no one overweight in the crowd.

Check the old lady in the lower left corner of the photo. Even though you can't see her body, you can tell by the side of her face that she is a little plump. There were definately fat people back in those days...maybe Disney just didn't let many of them in!

Do you mind if I ask what camera you are using and your settings? This picture is quite sharp. Is it an slr, an slr wannabe, or a point and shoot?

Canon PowerShot G7. For lack of a better description I think they'd call it their advanced point & shoot these days. Phenomenal camera. Works remarkably well just in auto, though I rarely use it that way. Usually AV in daylight (with a few tweaks) or Manual in low light to make the most of it. Once you find some of the sweet spots, it's an incredibly fun camera. F4-F5ish it's as sharp as anything I've ever seen. Takes great pics across the whole range though. Really, really sharp, and size-wise it's actually pocketable.

All EXIF data for my shots shows up at my Flickr pages (see below). Fire away with any questions here though -- http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=188360&page=2 -- so I don't hijack this thread fawning over Canon :D If you're still looking for a pocketable cam to go with your 10D, you should definitely throw the G7 in the mix.

Not only did long haired people need not apply, but fat people, too?!

More likely, I think America was just a slimmer society back then.

I think what the original comment meant was that there aren't a lot of obese people in the photo. Sure there are people who could lose a few pounds, but not really anyone who is morbidly obese.

Also, I remember thinking back in the 80's that not a lot of black folk came to WDW. I remember thinking that it should be drawing in all ethnicities and nationalities. Just the other day I was smiling on Main St because almost everyone that passed me was black. It was a nice positive change that WDW attracts everyone now and more people make a decent enough wage that they can afford it. Well I thought that until a gigantic tour group of about 200 came at me. *kidding*

Annette Funicello/A Net Full a Jello:ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL:

Is that the intended Disney pun or are you very witty? I haven't noticed this at Muppets before?

Haha, i only wish i made that up. No, that was just an intended Disney Pun. A little muppet homage to Annette Funicello, one of the original mousketeers.

Oh, and lspicknall, that's an amazing shot of Cranium Command. It was my favourite attraction in The Wonders of Life. Well...tied...bodywars was pretty amazing too.
