The main problem I see with that garbage can is the plastic bottles. call me a recycling nazi but I often find myself walking around the park with empty bottles in my backpack trying to find a recycling bin.

Raven, do you klnow if the garbage gets sorted prior to be compacted?

Place all your 'things not quite up to par' photos here!

Perhaps Disney will be shamed into addressing them.

Thanks to Figments Friend for the inspiration of this thread.

Don't the trash cans in each section of the park have some type of detailing on them? It seems weird to see just a plain green trash can...lol. I'll have to find the member who has the link to the trash can photos in their signature...anyone help me out with that and tell me who it is to save me the search?

One of the tidbits from our 'Keys to the Kingdom' tour was that, yes, the trash is sorted for recyclable items.

Also, referring to the original overflowing trashcan picture; could this be after a parade on Mainstreet (and actually showing that people did the right thing and tried to deposit their trash responsibly). I don't know this for fact, but maybe, we don't know the whole story of this trash can.

Do trash cans really have stories? :lookaroun

No, it was not. It was about 6-7 in the evening. Well after any daytime parade and long before the nighttime parade.

Thank you. And coming from a Cast Member, you realize that this thread does NOT reflect upon YOUR job.

You know... if every thread was deleted that upset SOMEBODY, then this would be a VERY boring website.

C'est la vie.

I wish there was a tongue-in-cheek smiley...this is the closest: :drevil: ?

And thanks to all the CMs...you all are great whenever I'm vacationing. World class employees.

It's easy to post a picture of an overflowing trash can, and claim this is happening all over Disney World.

Obviously, it will happen on occasion, especially after a parade or other popular event.

But in my 20 years of visiting WDW, I've never, not even once, seen a trash can overflowed like that.

So clearly, we've seen it can happen, but to infer that it's happening on a regular basis all over WDW is COMPLETE B___S___ !!!!!!!

I am impressed. I send a very professional letter to Meg Crofton and Al Weiss about the "Graffiti Mountain". I got a call from a manager who happens to pull a Duty Manager shift once a month for MK. We talked for about an hour and then she called me back after she toured the area with Custodial, Guest Service, and Attractions management that Monday. We discussed her findings and what their proceedures are as far as cleaning attractions.
Then a few days later, another manager called me back to let me know how they plan on keeping up with the attraction.
I wonder if they acted this way because my email had my Position and company name attached to bottom????

Anyway, I told them I will be there in Ocotober and they both gave me their numbers to call if I see any issues while there.

If you have pics....send to Meg and Al. They seem to light a fire under peoples butts.

I don't get it. What is this building?

THIS IS the Team Disney office Building across the street from DTD. It's basically the executive office of management, it also has the cast member credit union bank inside for cast members and a cofeteria. The big smoke stack looking thing in the middle of the building is a sundial on the inside courtyard. The building was designed to represent a cruise ship!

Well, it depends...if you're in line already and on the way you see other trash cans like this, then no, most tourists probably won't go looking for one that isn't full.

One problem I have, and this is with every park I've visited, including in Tokyo, is that they want people to use the recycling bins, however they're usually MUCH more difficult to find and are almost non-existent in the lines of the rides, they have just regular trash cans.

If I remember right, I thought I saw a video about the trash and that they actually go through it to pic out the recyclables!? I maybe wrong, but if the recycling cans are hard to find or even non-extistant. maybe this is what they are doing!?

I thought Disney processed all trash and separated out all recyclables before sending it out to landfill.

Edit - C&D answered this above. I'll just add that perhaps Disney should add some sort of note or symbol to the bins to this effect. Maybe something as simple as trash and recycling symbols next to each other. (unofficial source - http://www.explorethemagic.com/disney-world-fact.asp)

Well, the plus side is that people were using the trash can, and not just leaving their soda cup, wrappers, etc. wherever they wanted to.
