I've been to both and resort wise, WDW is the best due to size and offerings. However, I love DL and how cozy and quaint it is. Being in DL is like deja vu if you've been to the MK. You feel as if you've been there before but haven't. You feel as if you sort of know your way around, but don't. Its definitely an experience if you can do it. My favorite MSUSA though is in DLP. To put the size into perspective for those that haven't been there, I will give you this visual for the parks:
If you leave the bag check area and head to the boat launches at Seven Seas Lagoon, DCA would be right around that spot. If you would turn right and head to the monorail station, Downtown Disney would be approximately there as well. Granted, its not exact, but it gives you an idea.

I'm not voting because they can't be compared. Disney World has the space to offer a lot more than Disneyland does. The things I enjoy about Disney World (the resorts, the restaurants, the places outside the parks to "wander," the water sports, etc.) only exist because there's room for them to exist. Disneyland does a good job of providing entertainment within its limitations, but I also enjoy being at Disney World because of its sprawling size.

A resort to resort comparison isn't really a fair comparison. The poll would be better if compared park to park.

Both resorts are great...BUT, I find price wise WDW I can stay for 2 weeks at a Value resort as much as 1 week at Paradise Pier..

But there are better Anaheim hotels, at a similar price point that are closer to the parks than the Values at WDW. Don't know why so many feel they have to stay on-site at DLR.

Is it really fair to cast a vote if you've never been to one of the two choices? How can that be objective in the very least? I didn't vote because I've not been to DL yet. We are going this year. I'll tell you how I feel after I go because then I'll actually be qualified to have an opinion.

I can, however, tell you why I'm not choosing WDW vs. DL this year.

1. WDW doesn't have enough to interest me after having been so many times now. Give me something new to me and exciting and I'm more likely to go. Never been to DL. It's simply the more interesting of the two to us right now.

2. MM+/FP+. I don't want to deal with this. I don't want to plan so much so far ahead. I don't want to be tied to the parks I reserved FPs for on certain days. I don't want to be tied to my ADRs so strictly. Either one of these can have changes made on the fly, yes, but then you're limited to what has availability leftover. No thanks. Just let me show up, go with the moment, and enjoy without consequences for lack of (over)planning.

There's not many of them out west.
Agree, we stayed at the HOJO and still got one magic morning for our 3 day trip. You can walk right into both parks with no bus needed and you spend very little time with transportation or none. I could hop to both parks by just walking and pick up fast passes for the whole group in either. The proximity of the parks to each other and to offsite resorts makes it ideal of a quick vacation, you can see more and get more accomplished in a shorter amount of time. More than 4 days and I would run out of things to do without going to other S CA locations. WDW is great for more than 4 days, Disneyland is perfect for 4 days or less. If I went to WDW for only 3 or 4 days I would have a feelling that I didn't get much accomplished when I was done. I can't vote on just one.

Never been to Disneyland. It is, or course, the original park. Disney World is much larger in size, though. But I imagine they are similar in rides, theming, and all that. There are attractions in California that aren't in Florida, and vice versa, though. Since I've never been to DL, can't really say. But, the fact that it was so innovative for its time and was the first Disney park gives it some credit.

I have been to both DLR and WDW twice in the last two years. DLR is more magical and the quality of just about everything is higher. I liked being able to walk to the parks from my reasonably priced off-property good neighbor hotel just across the street. Also, it is much easier to be spontaneous at DLR, when a WDW trip is increasingly becoming more like a space shuttle launch to plan. On the other hand, DLR does not have the World Showcase and/or the Animal Kingdom, which makes WDW the winner in my book.

How can you have an opinion if you've never been to the DLR? This goes to any other person who has an opinion/voting and have never been as well.
Because the things that make me love Disney aren't offered in any form at DL...if we were just talking about parks than I wouldn't really know but the fact that I spend almost all of my time at the boardwalk, water parks, and WS makes it easy for me because it's not offered there.

It still doesn't make your opinion valid simply because you've never been. You haven't a clue what the Disneyland Resort is like.

People can't have opinions for a theme parks if they have not been there, yet they can have opinions about MM+ even thought they have never used it?

Talk about a horrible double standard.

Jimmy Thick- Completely yet honestly...

Been to both...like comparing a city to a state...
DL has more classic attractions and charm than MK, cast not as friendly, castle not as cool (by a lot)
Ihop..etc.. right outside the park, kinda jammed in...
to me DCA is a mish mosh and not as good as any of WDWs other three parks
There is nothing like EPCOT in DLR, nothing like AK either
DTDs are very similar but WDWs features waterviews, water transportation , in fact water is a huge advantage for WDW in general...
Monorail in WDW superior, in DLR its an attraction/transportation hybrid that takes you past lots of dumpsters
Grand Californian is nice, Paradise Pier hotel is a real disappointment and I have no experience with Disneyland Hotel but id have to say resort situation is superior in WDW...
There is nothing like FW in DLR, no water parks in DLR, nothing like Boardwalk in DLR
I don't believe there is any PGA golf in DLR, if that's important to you...
Restaurants: big advantage to WDW, Napa Rose is a star but there are 6 or 7 stars in WDW dining
obviously I vote for WDW....
