WDW: Magic Kingdom - Skyway Update

Man that is weird. I recently had a very cool idea. We were discussing the City of the Future facades being built aI'm still 'iqwbft the back of TL. I was thinking they could have some of those pedestal telescopes that you see at major tourist locations for taking in large vistas. You know, the type that you put a dime in and you can look through for a timed period. Imagine some steam punk versions lined up for viewing the cityscapes but with a special feature. Instead of being actual telescopes, they would contain animation of the CotF with all sorts of detail and magic. Maybe even a button you could press that gives you a futuristic x-ray view of the city even into Space Mountain.

A good analogy is the movie "batteries Not Included". When they open up one of the little space ships there are all sorts of things going on. Same with the view of Space Mountain or the City of the Future through the magic telescopes. :D
I'm still hoping they install a simple facade there.:lol: The huge empty space will look odd. And won't you be able to see out of the park?

Any chance they would be bringing back the Skyway to Fantasyland?? They still have it at Disneyland don't they? I miss riding the Skyway, especially at night.

Personally I hope not. Nothing was more poorly themed or as intrusive as the skyway. And it would really ruin the entire "enchanted forest" atmosphere they are going for, what with people dropping things and spitting from the cars.

Agreed. It was a fun movie but really, I don't want to see that kind of future incorporated into TL. I would much rather get Sci-Fi land, not people floating in bubbles.

But Robinsons is the most Tomorrowland-ish animated movie Disney's ever produced. And one of the most optimistic views of the future I've seen in recent fiction ever. Perfect for Tomorrowland.

The official word from Disney insiders is that an announcement went out yesterday confirming that a “newly designed” Tomorrowland Skyway building was on the way. When the facility reopens in November they promise an “improved view” of Space Mountain for everyone

link me if i did wrong, havent been on all day

hmm it could also mean there just removing the top and leaving the bathrooms

Indeed. I ever got why it was so beloved.

I personally thought Meet The Robinsons was one of Disney's best non Pixar animated films in years. It was very powerful, visually stunning and had a great message. I'd really like to see it appear in Tomorrowland, primarily in the CoP.

CoP needs an update because it appears very dated and the future scene has already come to pass. All I want to see done is a short intro video hosted by The Robinsons introducing audiences to how things progressed way back when, an updated future scene and a new closing video. That's it. The rest will remain the same, except prettied up.

I think he meant leave CoP alone as far as movie tie-ins. The last scene could really use an update, but it doesn't need movie characters. It's a classsic, keep it the way it is, just minus the "car phones" and such. And I agree with others, MTR was a very good movie, but no box office hit. If people hardly remember the characters, why would Disney put them in the parks, much less have an entire attraction surrounding them.

I like the idea of a refurb, which it needs...but MTR? I don't see how it would fit, thematically. CoP doesn't need characters to survive. It has made it this long.

Great idea.
