According to various sources... Disney is canceling guest reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table on January 31st so they can host a premium event there for $499pp

Guests get online and call 180 days in advance on the dot to be able to get in this place all to be thrown aside just so they can do something for... yep... you guessed it...the more elite for more money

So those folks that had reservations that will no longer be able to dine there has just a few weeks now to find a new place to dine at, most of which may be full already.

Congratulations Disney.... this is a new low

‘Delicious Disney, A Chef Series’ Continues in 2017 at Walt Disney World Resort

by Pam Brandon, Food Writer, Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort

Imagine an intimate evening filled with delicious cuisine prepared just for you by an award-winning culinarian from Walt Disney World Resort. This year, the Walt Disney World Resort chefs launched a new dinner series to showcase the stellar talents of the culinary team; with unique and inspired culinary creations coupled with deliciously creative wine pairings. And the “Delicious Disney, A Chef Series” will continue in 2017 with the theme of “storytelling with food.” These dinners are a wonderful opportunity for epicureans to meet our amazing chefs as they prepare specially themed meals for you, our guests.

January 31st is during one of the slowest times of year. I'm sure every other restaurant will have plenty of space to accommodate.

True, but people don't book CRT 180 days out just to make sure they have somewhere to eat. They book it because of the princesses and all the ambience, which is why it's so hard to get a reservation there. People plan their whole stay at the parks around bookings like this, it's not really fair to say "I'm sure the Village Haus has plenty of seats".

Are we sure reservations were being allowed for this time originally and that it wasn't blacked out for the event?

If there were reservations, it's worth noting that guests also pay for CRT in advance. Yes, they'll get a refund, but there's a much larger emotional attachment to a meal you were both planning for and had paid for being suddenly cancelled on you.
Yes, reservations were taken. Guests are being contacted and told reservations are being cancelled.

Bad mouse, no cheese.

I'd love to hear from someone that's experienced this. I would expect to get an equally nice character meal reservation in it's place, or assistance getting a CRT reservation for another time during my trip. But I don't know if they do customer service anymore.....

I'd like to think Disney would offer some compensation, for some people their trip might be a once in a lifetime thing and for a first timer (or others just not myself!) this meal could have been the highlight of their trip. If it was for a technical reason then people would have to understand but obviously in this case it is simply because someone else is going to pay more to be there are the same time..
