I believe I saw Spaceship Earth once. We were turning for our landing and I saw a big ball...It could have been a number of things probably...but I like to assume that it was Spaceship Earth!

Great pic nicholas.

The only thing I've ever been able to recognize is the Gateway Arch while flying into St. Louis. That was pretty cool. Something else that's really neat is flying into Las Vegas from the East at night. It's all dark desert and then all of a sudden you see this super bright blob of lights in the middle of nowhere. Super Cool.

Oh wow. I passed 200 posts and didn't even realize it! :hammer:

The only thing I saw that was remotely close to WDW was the Marriot on Lake Buena Vista Dr. It kinda sticks out if you know where to look but I was unable to see anything beyond the Marriot. WDW is about 20 miles from MCO which should be visable from the air but it's kinda like looking into a microscope at something that is very hard to focus in on with the lense. I have a feeling that the visiblity is probably much better during the less humid months in Florida.

I'm a pilot and there is an IFR route that goes over disney that i usually file with air traffic control to fly across the state say from tampa to melbourne. another cool thing is on orlando's radar screens they have a mickey symbol where disney is so that when people ask they can give them a direct point out to it. on a commercial flight into orlando international you'd have to look hard unless you came in from an airport south of orlando. most of the arrival routes into orlando ore on the other side of disney and not particularly close.

Last 2 times I came down from the PHL we landed on runway 18 [Runway number indicate the direction it heading. 18 faces 180 degrees (South), that means the other end of the runway is 36 faces 360 degrees (North)]. Since the plane does not have to fly downwind of the airport (circle the airport) we don't fly over Disney. However, I did get to see Daytona Speedway.

Last time i was down at Disney, i was thrilled to see Epcot Center right outside my window during my flight home to Boston. It was incredibly cool as we were not as high up as the picture in this thread...quite a bit lower so you could see a LOT. It was really neat to see that and recognize everything! It was a nice "finale" to the best trip i ever had to Disney in 2002!!

As far as I know, from what I have heard, Disney has a "No Fly Zone" for commercial aircraft.
Occasionally you may see a small private plane, or even a military jet fly over head. I have gone to WDW in January each of the last 4 years, and have seen maybe a total of 2 planes overhead.

Grandmath, those pictures are amazing! You can see so many other things "behind-the-scenes" from those pictures.

You can clearly see the monorail station behind the MK. Also, is that a runway at the top right of the MK picture?

Thanks for sharing those, they are excellent. I can't wait to move to FL and take a helicopter ride or possibly take my plane out (when I get one along with finishing my pilot's license) and get some photos of the Resort.

Those pictures are incredible. I'm amazed at the clarity of them. You can see everything perfectly, especially the one of Epcot. Thanks for sharing!

In the MGM picture, you can see the infamous hat being constructed.

Does anyone know what the building is right across the WDW RR tracks from Pirates of the Caribbean? Is it a second show building for pirates? It kinda looks connected to the Pirates building. So, anyone know for sure?

SpenceMan 01 - that `second show building` is actually the primary show building. The building inside the berm/railroad track houses the queue, load/unload, and some attraction scenes - right upto when you go down the (only) slope. The slope is designed to take you under the railroad, and ride the rest of the attraction outside the berm, in the primary building. You then float back under the tracks to unload, taking the speedramp back up to MK surface level.

forbidden donut - I`m not sure what happened to this bit of land. FYI this is the one bit of property that TWDC has never been able to buy. You know how WDW`s land was bought in the 60`s right? Walt Disney Productions was never able to find the owner, so they built around it. In the late 90`s the current landowner came forward with an idea to build apartments, a golf course, a casino (DON`T start another thread, please!) or a mixture of both on the land - and there is nothing Disney can do. By law they have to provide road access from Buena Vista Drive since they have land locked the area in question. Great pictures BTW!

Very nice from the airplane pictures.

I cannot look out the window b/c I am a scared silly baby when on an airplane. Yikes. :dazzle: So it's cool to see what others can see.
