WDW By yourself????

I have been in the parks by myself, but I've never done a full trip alone. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE being in the parks alone.

I am determined to take a solo trip this year. I think it will be a blast.

 My heart is breaking right now! I was first shocked that some would go-it-alone...and not share the experience...but, as I continued to read, I truly understand! And you're all right! To go with a group, you can guarantee someone will be whining about something and that you will most likley have to sacrafice that fifth time on the RnR coaster.

Next time, however, when you feel the need to go to WDW, please call on me! I promise you I will want to go on all the rides more than once, eat dole whips (again, more than once), be the first one to arrive and the last one to leave the parks,....need I say more?! In fact, I'm sure everyone on this site would be the most amazing companions to bring on your WDW trip (no one else seems to understand our obsession!! :hammer: )

For me "sharing the experience" is just a big disappointment. I'll be watching fireworks nearly in tears because it's so amazing, and I'll look at the others in my party and they have looks on their faces like "is this almost done so we can leave?"

The only people I've travelled with who feel the same way about Disney that I do are my father and my 4 year old son.

Everytime...illuminations...first night out...waiting for the show...watching the sky turn blazing colors as it deepens into night...watching the glow of the torches softly lighting the surrounding area, bringing a gentle warmth on the faces of those you love...and then, the music starts...

it's the most beautiful thing

Yup... This year... Illuminations with the special holiday tag and I'm standing there taking in every moment of it and my mother is in front of me more interested in the girls to the right of us (in Canada) who were prepping the popcorn buckets for the next day.... I'm sure she ended up with a bruise where I had to keep nudging her with the "Look!!!! You're going to miss it" Look.....

All the time. I recommend it! You don't have to worry about people nagging you. All you have to do is worry about the 80 minute wait at Rock N' Rollercoaster;)

It's never been that long for me, even when it was backed up to the beginning of the line, it was still only about 30 minutes til you got to the inside, so total the longest I've had to wait for RnRC was about 50 minutes, and that was in the fall! i can't imagine waiting in line during the peak season :dazzle:

Going alone has it's benifits: You go on exactly what you want to go on, you get to use single rider lines, ect.

Going with a group of course has it's share the magic end to it.

I guess I must be the odd ball! Last July, I went by myself and though it was fun for the first few hours, I got lonely fast. My first visit to WDW was on my honeymoon and not having my husband there to share it with me made me very sad. He always liked the same rides and foods that I did so I never felt like I had to fight for what I wanted to do.

So, a month later, I remedied the situation and my husband and I went together. :D I guess I'm just a sentimental sap!

Doing WDW alone would never be my first choice, because I think a huge part of the fun is experiencing it with other people. But I have gone alone a few times and what's interesting is that you tend to notice little details that you don't normally notice...I think because you're focused on looking around more as opposed to talking with others in your party.

The last time I was in WDW, as a matter of fact, I was alone because I was in Orlando for a conference. I had something kind of annoying happen to me on Mission: Space. I was in the singles line and I'm pretty outgoing so I started up a conversation with a girl who was in line in front of me. We got to the very front, right before they assign you to your "briefing room", and they kept letting people in from the standby line for what seemed like forever. At first we didn't really notice because we were talking. But after a while, the girl said to me, "Doesn't it seem like we've been waiting here for a really long time and they're just kind of ignoring us?" So I got a CM's attention and asked how much longer we'd have to wait. His reponse was, "You'll be waiting for as long as it takes for you to figure out you're in the wrong line." When I asked what that meant he said, "This line is for singles, not for couples trying to get on the ride faster." It turned out that he assumed the girl and I were together because we had been talking to each other. We explained that we didn't even know each other and he said, "Do you know how many times a day I see people abusing the single line and trying to get away with this?" He then proceeded to let us in, but made a point of putting us in separate sections (which, of course, didn't matter to me since we really didn't know each other). Still, I thought that CM was rude.

I wouldn't leave the family and go by myself, but there was an occasion a little over a year ago when I was in the Orlando area on business and couldn't get a flight home Friday night. Nothing was pressing at the house, so I booked a late Saturday flight home and went to my favorite WDW park before flying home. I had a great time and would do it again if the circumstances allowed.

I think everyone would agree that it isn't that we prefer to be alone in Disney...it's that we feel that we are on a different level of appreciation and want nothing more than to steal away for a few hours to indulge ourselves in that level we feel that only we can appreciate.

we see beyond what is in front of us...

I think going alone is great.

I live out here by DLR and I go to the Park by myself all the time. Of course there are times when I go with my family but doign the Park by myself is great.

I am planning on taking a solo trip to WDW by myself. I can't wait.

Question: Has anyone ventured to WDW on their own. I have been thinking of "getting away" by myself and was wondering if anyone else had planned a trip alone. They have tons for single people to do, so just looking for thoughts.....:)

85% of my WDW trips are solo -- and sometimes... my solo trips are the best out of all of them.

I am constantly there by myself researching WDW restaurants for a book that I am writing. I always have a wonderful time. It is truly a self absorbing experience. I go where I want, when I want for as long as I want. Makes for a nice day and it allows me to focus on my work.
