Water near Castle Walls - artistic license or more?

So it's probably just artistic license but I noticed in the Winter issue of the Mickey Monitor, there was a little pond on the "old" Fantasyland side of the Castle Walls. We all know there's a lot more space around there now with Dumbo's removal and while most everyone enjoys said wide open spaces, many have wondered if anything is going to eat up any of that space.

Which brings me to this:

Lower left side. There's clearly a pond type feature. Which I don't recall seeing in past concept art.

Here's the older concept art to compare:

Thoughts? Artistic license or possibly a planned addition?

Right now it is just artistic license as that area is currently open with no sign of construction.

That would be nice, but aren't the Utilidoors under there? Could be a shallow pond, I suppose.

I wouldn't mind some things like that to break up the stroller wasteland.

I know I haven't seen anything yet either, but I wondered if it was something planned that was new.

Could also be more like a fountain in real life perhaps? I don't know. But I found it interesting they chose to specifically add water where they did not previously ever show water.

It would be very nice. A little fountain area or something right there. I'm VERY doubtful in it, as I have to think it's all artistic license. I'm trying to look back, but didn't they basically pour some new concrete to fill where some of the Dumbo attraction was? I'd think they would have added it back then if they were going to add it.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good spot. That art is so different to reality though, not sure we can take anything from it.
Agreed but something in that area seems to be needed. Maybe WDI realized that now that it is open in that area and see how empty it looks. New Fantasyland seems to have these little nooks and quiet special places and the old area looks like a concrete parking lot.
I'm sure it is all just wishful thinking but it would be nice.

I'm looking at this picture right here from the main site and think if they were to put anything there, it would have been done right at this moment:

It certainly would have made sense to do it before now, but I just wonder if now that it's basically done, if it doesn't look a little too plain in person versus plans. I'm sure it's almost certainly just artistic license, but I can't help but wonder if they looked at the finished product and thought...hmm...we need a little something more here. *shrugs*

Either way, it makes for an interesting addition on the art!;)

My feeling is that some kind of entertainment will be in that space. Remember the auditions for the Fantasyland comedy acts.

The art also shows 4 trees right as you would enter new fantasyland through the castle walls, which we know aren't there either. I'd say its just artistic license.

Also remember that that open area has now become a major crossroads with the exiting path through Fantayland crossed by the path between the castle and the expanion. For the moment it's also the only entrance to the expansion until they open the second entrance by Mermaid. The openess should help with the crowd flow.

I thought the same thing seeing it in pictures but after being down there and seeing how open it is, it really is nice to have that much breathing room in the park. Now after having seen it, I hope they don't put anything permanent there.

I would actually be okay with them using it as stoller parking if they would stop using the area between Pan and Small World. That just seemed crazy.

Speakin' of artistic license, has anyone else noticed the mountains in the background in those two renderings?
It's freakin' Florida...
If you notice they have also completly removed the new princess meet and greet, formerly snow white ride, and replaced it with big beautiful trees. Hmmmm? Probably just the artists making a pretty scene for the poster, but I haven't been there in awhile so who knows?

Yeah, I was going to bring up the trees too - it was the first thing I noticed when I saw the art.

I'd love for more water to be added but I have to agree and say it's probably artistic license.
