You've thrown plenty of them. Again can you tell me why I can shop in your store, but I can't get on a airplane?
We are open to the public. That’s why. I have never said I agreed with it. Our Omni-channel business went through the roof this year. I wish we would just stick to that for the time being. But it’s a Fortune 500 company and my name isn’t on the building.

Airlines, hotels and WDW are open to the public too. Airline employees are considered essential workers. How would you like your fortune 500 company to be shut down and you laid off? You ok with that?

Yes. If it gets us out of this pandemic quicker. Yes. I’ll get another job. I’ve been working for 25 years with an incredible skill set for customer service and management. My wife is an amazing school principal and we have 2 amazing kids. We’ll be fine. But more importantly, the world is a healthier place if we all do our part.

Unfortunately.....‘Murica!!!!

So, the parks are getting busy. Anyone else think January may not be as slow as we think? And that Disney may be preparing now for a not-so-dead slow season?

Disney is preparing now for the inevitable bump in attendance. I doubt it happens in January, but it will eventually happen. The 2nd wave will slow down and the impact of vaccines will start to be felt. It’s quite possible they get a significant bump by Spring Break timeframe. Maybe later, but that’s the optimistic outlook. If you look at their internal actions, the park hours drop back down to pre-holiday levels the 2nd week of Jan (with DHS keeping 1 extra hour for a week). They also pushed back the opening of one of the All Stars from first week in Feb to mid-March just before Spring Break starts up. That’s 2,000 hotel rooms not opening in Feb.

I think the current moves to reduce distancing on some rides is a way to ease into removing restrictions and see what works. If they wait until the middle of March to make changes right when demand pops it might look rushed and reactionary to the increase in demand. Do it now while it’s not necessarily needed and it seems less of a money grab and you give CMs time to work out further kinks in the process.

All that being said I don’t think the parks go back to July/Aug crowd levels (hopefully ever). Unless there‘s some sort of setback with Covid cases or the vaccine I think crowds will continue to grow.

I don’t blame people in the travel industry for continuing to do their jobs. Never have. I blame the people who continue to take non-essential travel trips. It’s careless.

I’m as cozy as I can be right now sitting in my recliner. Try again!
You do realize people in the travel industry won't have jobs if people don't travel just like people in whatever fortune 500 company you work for don't shop in your store. Did you fail economics?I think you've dug yourself a hole you can't get out of.

It was an interesting conversation, but I have dining reservations to make. See ya.

I completely understand that. Don’t patronize me.

Reading is fundamental though....

AGAIN....I don’t have a problem with people traveling for essential reasons. It’s the NON- essential travel that ticks me off.

But you already knew that, and are just trying to rile me up. Congrats.

Those were the days. Having the hub all to yourself in the middle of the afternoon...

I think those days served as a great ad for them. I wonder if a piece of this is about word of mouth. Long lines dont exactly make me want to go, but if FOP is always 15 minutes when you open the app from home, you may be willing to take that risk and visit.

Unfortunately I think that is the case. With the reduced restrictions they are now implementing, they are opening up a big can of worms.
I wouldn't be surprised this blows up in their face. At the beginning I thought Disney was doing a great with being open and setting the standard on how a park can be open safely during a pandemic. Now they are no better then any other park and are showing why parks shouldn't be open. Last time I looked we are still in a pandemic so loosening measures at this time is a bad look.
