News Walt Disney World theme parks increase capacity but see longer waits and less physical distancing

So your posts are more important than mine. Got it.

Why is it unnecessary? Because you disagree? Unnecessary travel is a huge factor in why the spread is growing. You are telling me that traveling around the country to go to a theme park is necessary? Give me a break. People are dying. Good grief.

I love WDW just as much as all of you. It’s insane to travel there now. Sorry...IN MY OPINION.
I think the main issue is that this thread was started to inform people of the differences in park capacity and physical distancing between July and now.

The parks are open, it’s not against the law to go there, and people are doing that. People know what COVID is and what it’s doing. I suspect they also know there are plenty of posters here who don’t like the fact that WDW is open. Disagreement is just fine, but calling others insane because they don’t agree with you is not productive.

That’s fine. As long as it goes both ways.

I'm guessing anyone coming here looking for info on WDW has been scared off by the constant harassing and bullying that goes on. Usually when I see a new poster they get the "your a troll" treatment.

They aren't staying on property. Many have been saying the resorts are ghost towns and have lots of availability. Parks may be full but Disney doesn't make its money on full parks. Its from full resorts.
It is what it is....international travel to fill the resorts isnt coning back anytime soon.
This forum is definitely slanted to the negative, but mainly by people that haven’t gone to WDW this year. I appreciate good and bad reviews from people that have actually experienced it.
I dont think this forum is half as negative as you seem to imply...heck this is the only REAL forum where negative viewpoints even exsist. Also this is me talking in general...period...full stop before and after covid...every other media source will talk about how great the new show for epcot will be for example without mentioning the rediculous sightlines....things like that. This forum is a wealth of knowledge. Sure there is bias in each direction from some but theres also a core of objectively great members whom i dont always see eye to eye with but would fully support there opinions as good willed. The intentions of the core membership on this forum is not to slander the brand or say it sucks however its to lay off the pixie dust as much as one can at least. The covid thing has definitely opened a devide just like it has in any other realm. We will move past it...it will be in the rearview at some point and when that day comes this forum will still be unquestionably a key source of unbiased information and opinion for many years to come.

The WDW magic forum stands firm and unwavering through these trying times and turmoil. 😉

It's not that the posters live in a pixie bubble it's because those other topics are not allowed and it's enforced. They want it to be friendly place. Different forums and different philosophy's. Both are fine.
I agree with some of that. They also cut any discussions that say anything negative about Disney.

Negative viewpoints are fine. I like reading objective reviews. It's the people that haven't been during this pandemic that shame others, tell them it's a waste of money, tell the it's impossible to have a good time under these conditions and that bully people that feel otherwise.

I went in August it was one of the best trips I've ever had. I'm going back in January if the trip turns into a hot mess I'll report that too.

Maybe because it leads to nasty fighting. I'm sure trying to a keep forum friendly is no easy task. I've really only followed the cruise section there, but since there is no cruises there is not much to talk about. Cruise critic is another great forum for cruising, but there is a lot of arguing about which cruise line is better. I guess it's human nature to defend something you like.

Its different..
Your example is a good example..in August it was dead...your trip would have been great due to that alone...the loss of some things was off set. Now if you visit and wait in lines etc like normal but still have those lost items.. im not saying one way or the other just pointing out there has been two covid experiences largely dependent on crowd level.

I understand that part of it leading to fighting. I guess I worded it wrong. Its not so much the negative discussion. Its that I find that here you have good discussions outside of Covid that lasts pages. Look at the Maxpass coming do WDW thread. Its been going on for awhile.

Over there those discussions just die unless it involves resort openings and restaurants reopening.

That hasn’t been my experience at all. It’s just that they stop threads when they come down to the same handful of people saying the same thing over and over. It’s not necessary for Disney planning to hear the same thing ad nauseam, and it cuts down on arguing. That said, I prefer the posters here and the questions posed and topics discussed are more in line with my interests.

Some of the moderators on the Dis are much too intrusive and will cut off opinions that don’t comport with their own, whether positive or negative. I prefer a site with lighter moderation even though there are some downsides in terms of repetition and arguing.

I hear Disboards is a great site for planning. Most of them live in a pixie bubble and they never talk about the outside world.
It’s a difference in mission or philosophy. That board allows only discussions about Disney - no politics or “outside world” discussion is allowed because it’s irrelevant to their purpose. It looks like posters live in the Disney bubble because other topics are not appropriate there.

Agreed. You said it better then I could. Part of it for me is I am not a planner for vacations, Disney included. So talking about what FP to get or what ADRs to get does little for me. My hype for parks in general is new attractions. Cause that's what draws most people to parks.

That's part of it but my big thing is it's hard to get discussions going on some of the inside stuff that happens here. I love talking about insider stuff and new attractions. Look at how many pages Velocicoaster has here and then you look at it over there. Its now buried a few pages over.

New threads are started all the time over there. It’s difficult to have a thread go on for months because it goes off topic.

The just back and here now thread is a really good thread to read if your planning a trip. It stays on point and has a lot of good info.

Rope drop seems to be key to a successful trip. Just like the old days. I’ve never tried MaxPass so I can’t really comment on it, but it sounds better than fast pass plus.

I never go into threads like that at all. I'm not a planner for vacations at all. All I do is book my hotel and flight. I have no interest in planning a Disney vacation. When I go to Disney I stay off property and never prebook FP. Its why I would love a version of Maxpass to come to WDW. The less planning the less stressful your vacation becomes.

I used to believe all the comments about not being able to have an enjoyable Disney vacation without planning everything months in advance - until we did a quick turnaround trip several years ago. We did our usual early October trip with ADRs 6 months in advance, 60-day FP+, etc.

Then, when we got back we did something wild and crazy - booked another trip for three weeks later. I looked for a few FP+ for our favorite rides and got them, no issue. Same with Cali Grill brunch (used touringplans), which people insisted couldn't be done last minute. The rest of our trip was FP+ on the fly, with additional ones after we used the first three. We were able to get day before or same-day reservations for every place we wanted to eat (caveat: we don't do CRT, Chef Mickey's or BOG). I probably wouldn't do this when we go with our family of 7, but it was great for just two of us.

My wife and I did a 4 day trip without the kids (sorry kids!!) in June 2019. Booked it only a few weeks ahead of time. Stayed at Coronado Springs for the first time and loved it. Was able to secure a bunch of ADRs at favorite places and also new ones we wanted to try. Rolling FastPasses were available pretty easily as well after the first 3. I think we may have only missed out on 1 or 2 attractions we wanted to do but it didn’t matter. It was a great last minute trip.
