That's not good at all. The longer things stay this way the longer the cuts stay.
It’s good from a health standpoint that the buses aren’t crowded, but not good for Disney’s bottom line. We have been driving my kids to school since they went back but we just found out my son’s bus had an exposure and all the kids on the bus need to get tested. Anywhere that’s indoor where you spend 15+ mins with others is not a good situation. Masks should help but it’s easy for someone to pull down or take off. You rely on everyone else to comply fully.

were the kids on the bus wearing masks?

What would you have Disney do?
There's nothing they can do. People just aren't traveling right now. If they were the resorts would be full but there is lots of availability. All I'm saying is they are built on resorts being full not for parks full of AP holders. Its the same for Universal too. There is a reason weekdays aren't as busy. No resort guests to fill the parks.

Disney is doing the best they can given the circumstances. They can’t control community spread or the virus itself. They are keeping things as safe as they can, but they can’t make out of state tourists return and they definitely can’t remove restrictions that may draw in bigger crowds without making the parks less safe. The best thing they can do right now is hold their ground and wait for better days which is exactly what they are doing.

Disney has made a pretty good attempt to celebrate the holidays with decorations and castle shows. They recently announced plans for NYE activities at the individual resorts. It wont be a big in park celebration but they are trying to still make it fun while staying safe.

Impressed by your continued denial that no one is traveling to Disney from out of state. There are plenty from out of state. There are significant groups at Disney even traveling from outside the country.

So they don’t require any testing and don’t do any tracing? That seems foolish. If a kid tests positive the kids he/she had direct contact with for 15+ minutes must quarantine and test negative before coming back to school. I thought that was just common practice.
sure they do heavy contact tracing, zero cases of been transmitted at school, this is a district of over 50K kids.

Never said no one. Disney doesn’t fill 30,000+ hotel rooms with “some people” So yeah, maybe I’m mistaken and the resorts are full now...or maybe it’s that they are just all staying off property and only visiting the parks on the weekends;)

How are they doing heavy tracing if they aren’t requiring kids with direct contact to be tested or quarantine? Who exactly are they testing when a kid tests positive? In my kid’s 2 schools none of the cases have been traced to spread from school itself but that is based on actual tracing. If you don’t test anyone than naturally you won’t find any cases linked.

Of course they quarantine the students who have close contact, cdc guidelines, yada, yada, yada. health dept runs it.

I give up...you just said it was intense to do so and were glad your district wasn’t that strict.
They would not require all kids to get tested due to an exposure on a school bus ride. They wouldn't require that even in a classroom with one of the students testing positive. Only the ones close to the student would have to quarantine. They don't require any testing just quarantine. Plus next semester it appears they are probably going to loosen that rule as well as contact tracing at this level of community spread is becoming pointless. Testing results getting back on day 10-13 of exposure etc. Health dept calling and saying you have to quarantine for 1 day at that point.

Don't want to debate this, because it makes no difference, I am just glad our district is not that strict....now about that people aren't traveling to Disney ;)

How do you know which kids sat close enough on a school bus to qualify? Do you rely on the infected kid to tell you which kids were in the row in front or behind them? It may be a few days later after testing and getting results back. The kid is supposed to remember which kids were around them days earlier?

They aren't staying on property. Many have been saying the resorts are ghost towns and have lots of availability. Parks may be full but Disney doesn't make its money on full parks. Its from full resorts.

Our schools have seating charts for all activities for tracing purposes. But they would probably do the entire bus too just bc it’s a small space. That said, we don’t have buses here so who know 😂

In the classroom that’s how we do it too. Even at lunch they have assigned seats now for that reason. The problem with the buses is there is only the driver who needs to focus on driving so kids don’t follow the assigned seat thing all that well. They have tried it in the past when the buses got too rowdy and it never works. Kids will just get up and move. I also agree that there’s a difference between being in a classroom or cafeteria with more space and being confined in a bus. Especially now that it’s cold out and the windows are less likely to be open it’s a lot of people breathing the same air.
