This thread might get iced, so i just want to say that as long as one has to navigate to a website more annoying to use than the parks app for the pleasure of letting disney know where i will be spending money on their property ahead of time, all covid protocols have not been removed from the resort.

The protocols have been removed, but the resort will never 100% go back to the way it was pre-covid.

And to me, and just my opinion, going on a Disney cruise is like going to the Disney store (back in the day)…a TEASE…if I can’t go on HM, or FoP, CoP, etc…don’t need it.

Try Royal. We enjoyed Freedom of The Seas.

But Celebrity Apex is very new and looks GORGEOUS! We dont want all the bells and whistles of the newer Royal ships. The ship we chose is very outside focused, very luxe.

I'm.excited! 😀

This is correct, though I wish Disney would open their eyes to changes that are really getting harder to swallow every trip I return. Outside of 2020 when we had quarantine requirements we couldn't adhere to if we traveled, we were not the ones to stay home during pandemic. That first summer we were doing local as much as we could. Just seeing very long term changes like park hopping and park reservations when every other local place I know has dropped them, is hard. I'm having some patience but I do feel some of the post-covid changes are not for the better and wish they would hurry up and tweak for the better asap!

It’s definitely a different type of vacation. But I have two DCL cruises booked and no WDW trips for a reason.

I see both sides. For those frustrated with what Disney is doing in the parks post covid, a cruise could be seen as good. Now I'm not a cruiser (been there, done that, not my bag) but I totally see why people are flocking to cruising vs parks. Though I also get why some just never find a cruise to be quite enough for a Disney fix.

I've only been 4 times since 2020 to WDW, but each time I wonder when will they make life easier again. At least for onsite guests. I think they really missed the mark on what they could've done as perks for onsite vs off with park reservations and hopping, but that's me.

Even older ships like the one i was just on (Although it was renovated recently). Washy washy” yelled the staff member every time you entered the buffet. It was basically mandatory as he was there ensuring all did. People were back to serving themselves so I was good with that. Lol
Which ship?

Have you actually been on a Disney cruise? I get what you are saying but honestly a Disney Cruise is nothing like a visit to a Disney Store even during the Disney Stores hey day. DCL has superior live entertainment compared to the parks and also vastly superior guest services. That "legendary guest service" WDW was once known for.... DCL still executes on today.

DCL works with partners that recruit future cast to work on the ships ( ie Philippines etc ). Tell me a domestic cast that is willing to work a 6 month contract working 12-14 hours a day 7 days a week in DCL operations still with legendary guest service. I see the difference when I was cruised on the Wonder between cast in the parks and cast on the ship.

The first Christmas open during Covid, was our best visit in years. No Fast Pass, just ride whatever you wanted with lower crowd levels, plenty of social distancing and the masks kept your nose warm during those chilly nights !

Due to stupid quarantine requirements for travel and school schedules we didn't make it until June 2021. Still spacing people out for the most part. No FP either. That was a great trip. Though it was hot so masks if AC wasn't high enough kinda sucked. None required outdoors.

We had fantastic WDW trips in Nov 2020 (despite masks required everywhere) and in Nov 2021 (despite masks outdoors) so I’m really excited for our first non mask trip in January but I’m also very concerned because it’ll be our first trip back since Genie+ started and I don’t know what to expect. I hated our first post Genie+ trip to DL but we have gotten used to “New DL” since then, I’m worried the difference at WDW will be equally as drastic as DL was and we’ll hate it also until we adjust to the changes.

This was honestly my biggest concern when I saw this news, and why I read this whole thread. The only gain from removing the signage is to give an illusion of being "back to normal." I hope they're not about to pressure cast to stop masking.
I don't think it's legal to tell an employee they can’t protect themselves with a mask if they so desire.

Sadly I don't think we'll get back to "normal" for a long time. The things like park passes are a real pain but they've said they're keeping that.

I think the only thing that will make them up their game again will be when Epic Universe opens as that really will start to pull people away from Disney parks. They spent years putting services in place to make it easier to stay on site, not have a car, and not go to Universal. But with paid resort parking, no magical express, no dining plan (I know people here hate it, but when its handed out free as part of a deal it's absolutely worth it) it's becoming far cheaper and more convenient to stay off site.

Combine that with the fact that Uni have a vastly better water park it just spells trouble for Disney once the new park opens.

The whole process feels like they sat around a board table and litterally said "What can we do to make it harder for people to visit our parks". All over their social media theres people complaining or commenting about how complex they've made it - they are well aware, but don't care.

And the Disney parks are still packed. UO lives in the shadow of WDW. I would agree the UO water parks are better.
