Walt Disney World Park Hours cut starting September 8 2020

With Orange County's 7 day positivity average now moving below 5%, if the trend continues, I would expect capacity limits to the parks to be officially increased, I am thinking they have been a bit already but not official. Probably will see that in a week or so. May still keep the hours the same, at least until they figure out how to bring back fireworks.

My understanding is that they’re not even hitting their current limits—there simply aren’t enough people who want to go. I may be mistaken, in which case I’d welcome a correction from those in the know.

Also, I guarantee I spend less in a club level stay per night than a regular room with the other items being bought out of pocket.
I didn’t mean to offend anyone who stays “club level”. You(and others) think it is a great value, and I do not.

We will agree to disagree.

As far as I know you are correct. Certainly at the time of the earnings call that was confirmed by the CEO and CFO. The fact that they removed some restrictions on AP park reservations is another good indicator that’s still the case. The first sign that a legit growth in demand is happening will be more restrictions on AP holders in an effort to maximize the number of people paying more per day for the parks. Then maybe an increase in on property resorts open. Followed last by an increase in park hours.

I also don’t think the Orange County Covid stats matter as much as the overall state of FL. Many out of state tourists couldn’t even tell you what county WDW is in. For tourists who are flying, their own local conditions matter too. People aren’t real enthusiastic about flying as it is. That won’t change unless the overall national picture improves dramatically. Right now the national trend is looking good, but it has to continue for a while.

What’s your opinion of VIP services? Any tips or reviews?
not to get too OT , worth it if you want to ride rides, especailly now, as you can park hop and like I mentioned lack of fastpass. Only one it doesn't guarantee ROTR, but you will get on it. You can easily hit all the main rides and then some in all parks in a day easy.

It matters as Orange County is the metric Disney and all the parks work with. Remember the meeting/vote on opening. That being said Disney is pretty much driving the ship either way.

On the weekends it looks like they are hitting capacity, weekdays definitely not. Once the positivity gets down in the 1-2% range the county will most likely lift its mask mandate. Those numbers are on trend to be hit in 3-4 weeks. Once that happens it will help travel as well. not saying DIsney will move that fast , they will wait a bit longer maybe a month after the county lifts it with the numbers staying at that level before they lift the mask mandate. I do see the hours being exteneded though in mid to late Oct, most likely Nov 1st around DST ending.

They turned my local 7-11 into a vaping shop. I didn‘t think it was possible for a 7-11 to turn into something even more sketchy
Careful -- your favorite Speedway gas station might be turning into a 7-11 before too long... :D

I posted this in another thread but Universal today is packed. If you got used to the space and dead crowds at Disney then UO would give you shock. This picture doesnt even do it justice. Apparently business blew up after their Florida resident deal.

I don’t see the positivity rate being 1-2 % in 3-4 weeks. I don’t see travel picking up all that much through Christmas for a variety of reasons. I don’t see hours being increased until globally people feel comfortable traveling across seas into Florida. IMO this is going into next year before we see changes on any of this stuff.
Of course, I’ll be around to eat crow if I’m wrong but so many things need to happen for most of what you mentioned to take place. IMO

2029 for Hawaii and NYC...so that’s not bad.

How do they park hop? Minnie Van?

Disney is not requiring masks because Orange County requires them. There’s no way Orange County or Disney lifts the mask requirement in 3-4 weeks. 3 weeks is September 12. You are entitled to think whatever you want but that’s not even close to being based in reality. My prediction is WDW will not be open without the mask requirement in 2020. I’m pretty confident in that at this point.

Hopping would be nice, but there's no issue riding rides right now. You can ride anything you want in a park, most with sub-30 minute waits, and many more than once.

As far as I've seen, they're not hitting capacity even on the weekends. Hollywood Studios fills fastest, but even that will typically still have spots for resort guests. Labor Day will be an exception.

Growing up as a teen I think I lived on those 7-11 burritos. But way back then times were different. Late night munchie runs were only to 7-11 because they were the only store open 24 hrs and at 2 in the morning, you didn’t have much choice.🙂
After 2am almost anything tastes good. We would visit girls apts back in the day. The girls always had food and were happy to feed us.
