Walt Disney Company 100 at [Cabochon] Disneyland

Disney has announced that they’re kicking off the company’s 100th anniversary next year in January. Josh D’Amaro claimed that the celebration will mostly be taking place at Disneyland. With that being said, all that has been announced, so far, is new decor, a new firework show, and a new version of WoC. How much do you want to bet that that’s all we’ll be getting, with the exception of new food and merchandise? Lol.

That's all there is to this. It's a cheap ploy to cobble together some random stuff in Anaheim that got delayed by Covid and thus will now be opening in 2023.

With a shameless emphasis on Walt's Park where they are "celebrating" by allowing StorybookLand hosts to show up to work with strip mall tats on their arms and scruffy beards and six months late for a haircut.

MAGIC! SPEND MORE MONEY HERE! WE'RE 100! THIS IS WHAT WALT WANTED!
I recently watched a video about Disneyland Paris. When it was opening it was controversial and illegal to have appearance standards for the workplace in France. Disney fought this because they said the appearance standards were essential to their brand and were able to get an exception made.

Now they just don't care. They treat their employees so bad that they have no choice but to change their rules to increase the labor pool.

That's an easy bet. But only because the WDW 50th "celebration" was so cheap and tacky and appears to be gaining fans only after the recent rumors of the embarrassing 50th stuff they are removing. Like Harmonious. And KiteTails.
As a WDW fan, Harmonious getting replaced has made a lot of WDW fans overjoyed. The barges are a huge eyesore for World Showcase.

I can easily imagine they are. I genuinely feel badly for them over their 50th. And now for the Company's 100th birthday they seem to be participating mainly by removing the junky stuff they got for the 50th. Celebrate! 🤔

The barges are a huge eyesore for World Showcase.

When I first saw photos of them a few weeks ago, my jaw dropped open. That they ever got approved in the first place is a clear indication that the current executive leadership at WDW are either grossly incompetent, or drunk on the job. I can't think of another excuse to give them.

I mean KiteTails was hilariously funny, and I am thankful for all the laughs it gave me via YouTube, but even something minor and bad like KiteTails proves my point when you consider the damage it does to the "brand" and brand standards they once had for themselves in the parks.

The current executive leadership of the parks are either grossly incompetent, or drunk.

The Disney100 Celebration at Disneyland Resort officially kicks off January 27th, 2023.

"At Disneyland park, Walt Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty Castle will be dressed in style for the anniversary. Celebrating wonder, the castle will be adorned with elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon featuring the three Good Fairies who illuminate it with their shimmering pixie dust. Two majestic water fountains will grace either side of the moat, while a beautiful wishing star will sparkle from the tower above."

"As you begin to plan your trip to visit Disneyland Resort for the Disney100 anniversary, please know that theme park reservation availability for Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park is currently paused for dates beyond Jan. 8, 2023, and will resume for guests in the coming weeks. I kind of like the fountains in the moat.

But I'm now going to grab the Funk & Wagnall's to look up the word "cabochon".

Who writes this stuff???

Of course it is.

Because what kind of loser plans a $5,000 family vacation more than 90 days in advance? 🧐

I thought it was lovely also!

Although I suspect that version is the play off version, and the version during the show will be the more orchestral / pop version we are used to for a fireworks.
Agreed, although I do hope they try starting quiet and building to a crescendo for once. I'd love to hear those whistles and guitar plucks in a show before the orchestra kicks in.

I kind of like the fountains in the moat.
Won't anyone think of the ducks? 😛

I kind of like them too, depending on how well they look in the moat. Would prefer that they're more permanent; if they're like those floating fountains tethered by rope, that would be super ugly.

I hope they're introducing this as infrastructure for future shows; I wouldn't mind seeing a Fantasmic!-esque fountain grid added in front of the castle.

They said there will be other limited entertainment during the celebration. Gotta be either MSEP again or Paint The Night.

The best part is that Disney World got more for the 50th than Disneyland’s getting for the 100th and it still wasn’t enough to make a dent 😅

I honestly think it’s due to the fact that Disney trickled in things over the celebration that lessened its impact. Perhaps if all the 50th offerings opened within a shorter time span there would be less complaints. Don’t get me wrong Enchantment isn’t a great show and Harmonious has awful pacing but maybe all the new trinkets at once would’ve distracted the public

I think all the Epcot stuff like Poppins, Play Pavillion, Moana Water Thing, and Guardians were supposed to be done for the 50th. I'd imagine Tron was supposed to be ready as well. Still though the in person offerings and entertainment for the 50th was really bad. None of the shows actually celebrated Disney World.

People paid big money to be there opening day and there wasn't anything noteworthy.

Remember Disneyland's 50th?

Every Disney park around the world celebrated. Disneyland had a HUGE ceremony on the actual birthday, with special guests and performances. An incredible 50th anniversary parade, one of the best fireworks to date, and a stunning golden decor package.

Add in that Matt Ouimet ensured Disneyland was in good condition at last, and it really was a special time, with a decent amount of heart.

Compared to WDW's 50th, which had nothing special at all on the actual day of the birthday... and shows that didn't tie into the 50th in the least... and no 50th parade for MK... and a lacking decor package...

I know Covid impacted all of it. But I do think they dropped the ball, especially for the actual anniversary date.

If anything, they should have focused ALL energy to Magic Kingdom, make that the 50th hub, go all out in just that park...

But they spread the offerings among all four parks, and you end up with a celebration that feels... sparse.
