Walls in HM Queue

I make sense of it. More space outside means less need for cramming guests inside. Right? Hopefully.

There are concerns that this will affect the ride's hourly capacity. I still think they would have people bunched into the load area so as to avoid this. I guess Park ops is worried about this, and may remove it if they see this effecting throughput.

If anything they need to slow the attraction down, we must have rode this about 13 to 15 different times last week and it always felt like you were being rushed through, from the pre-show and then even the omnimover's themselves felt as if they were speeding through. I assume the speed at which they travel can be controlled, right? It just felt really rushed. I don't mind waiting an extra 5 to 10 minutes if it means getting a better show.

So much truth!!

Indeed. The Mansion's foyer should be handled the same way the library at Tower of Terror is handled. At the Tower, guests are ushered in and kept in place as the show starts. After Rod Sterling sets up the ride's backstory, the guests are led down to the elevator. IMO guests at the Mansion should be ushered into the foyer and allowed to listen to the narrator and watch the portrait change, THEN be led into the stretching room. I don't understand why the two rides are handled so differently by the park's management. Both are based on more than mere thrills; they have a story to tell!

Well not entirely true. Yes both have detailed introductions to set the mood for the ride, but ToT has a specific cohesive story to carry you thru the ride, where as HM is simply a collection of random scenes in a haunted house with a loose narration to link them together. :D

Back on topic, put me down as one of the "wait and see" crowd. I'm hopeful that Imagineers will do a good job with this and keep us dedicated fans happy, I mean look at what they did with the ride itself, its better than its ever been since the refurb. Also I'd like to say thank you to Raven and Lee for all the tibits and teasers they've tossed at us over the years, its one of the main reasons I come to this site, to get the latest and greatest info on whats going on at my favorite place on earth. Raven, don't let a few party poopers stop you from passing on tidbits of information to keep the excitement going on these boards.

I saw somewhere that the new queue layout will be fully wheelchair accessible. Does the current "Servant's Quarters" wheelchair entrance cause staffing or capacity issues?

.

I know this is an older post but I do want to comment on this. All over the world, Disney is slowly switching alot of lines to allow WC access. As others have stated, there are many who use WCs that don't require a shorter line (like Autism etc). This can help shorten the amount of people flooding these back entrances. It will also allow WC groups to experience the effects and touches in regular queues. For example, I have NEVER seen the regular queue for TSM. I hear that there are interactive props and such over there. The back entrance has none.

Over at HM, WC patrons are asked if it's possible for them to leave their WCs outside. Yes, they go into the servants' hallway. That hallway is very small and cramped. For those accompanying these guests, that means we are supporting them (if unable to stand alone) in this area. For us, we are carrying my son. We wait until our turn to go to the stretching room. Then we can proceed to the loading platform. All the while, carrying or supporting someone. Not to mention, valuable equipment is left outside open to the elements. These wheelchairs cost upward of $5000. Power wheelchairs can be around $25k. Not to mention, it's that person's means of mobility. If something happens to it, they are left stranded. In the disabled community, I've heard many say they skip rides like these for this fear.

I'm happy WDW is making these mods. I would love to take my kids through the graveyard :) On a side (possibly) unintended benefit, it could stop those who abuse this system. Ive heard people joke about renting a WC just to use the "shorter" entrances :( No, not all but sadly, not all of the people of the world are good.

I would think it would be great if they could implement a loading system like Nemo or TSM. Nemo is an Omnimover but it does stop for WC loading BUT allows a WC user to ride in their chair without transferring. I really like the way TSM is done. Truly, i think it's the best WC loading idea so far. My son has weak torso muscles and, the first time we rode, we weren't told there was a WC car. We loaded in a regular car. He spent most of the ride on his side with me holding him in the car. The next time, and every time since, he rode in his chair and was able to shoot and enjoy the ride. Also, as a side note, TSM can pull any ride car into the WC loading area, but there's only 1 ridecar that loads a chair ;)

Disney is DEFINITELY leaps ahead of other theme parks for HC treatment. We've vacay'ed to Universal with my son and left early in tears for how bad they treated him. By far, my fav place to vacay is WDW. Not just because Im a Disney nut but also because they treat my son the best :)

Am I the only one that thinks that sounds kind of cheesy? And not the regular, pre-approved cheese already present in the mansion?

What? The extended queue sounds cheesy? Moving of the tombstones sounds cheesy? The walls being put up to hide construction sounds cheesy?

If you're referring to the interactive stuff, yeah, to me it's cheesy. But I suppose I'll have the option of simply ignoring it after it's set up in the queue.
