Walls in HM Queue

Let me just say that had I not given information about this rehab most people here (or on some other websites) wouldn't know a thing about what is going on. I've been happy to hint at details such as these in the past but all the negative comments from some members here changed that. Guess I'll keep quiet now on any further details about this or any other project. All I can say now is wait until it opens.

I'm sorry if my concern over the HM changes upset you, Raven. I think that, unfortunately, some of us here are a little distrustful of the people who manage the parks right now, maybe because of the broken yeti and so on. And we love the Mansion and appreciate its artistry and legacy. Maybe I overreacted; I sure hope so. I appreciate the info you give us here. Most of the time, what you've told us has interested me very much and made me hopeful. Sorry that I went the other direction this time.

Don't apologize for caring.

You don't need to give up on everyone, just do what I did start putting all the blatantly/blindly negative people(HMF two weeks ago) on ignore. It is ok to have a disagreement but the blind hate that goes on around here sometimes is just ridiculous.

So when the walls come down and it shows that the additions are in the vein of what was around earlier this summer and not video games/screens, ripped out tombstones, and the addition of the Jonas Brothers, will HMF apologize?

Don't apologize for caring.

Sorry for partying.

I never said that they would be video games.

I never said that they would be video games.

I read

I am all for TLC but I am not for destroying a classic Attraction element and replacing it with a tacky interactive game.

and thought you meant video games. Other comments you have made make it seem that you view all interactivity to be like SSE or SM queue line.

The rest of my comments stand. Including not apologizing for partying.

Seriously, people complain about maintenance and upkeep of rides and then when something is actually done, people are crying for blood, pitchforks and torches in hand. Think the "Kill he Beast" scene in BAtB.
Because they're "plussing" something that doesn't need any plussing, meanwhile NOT fixing many of the existing rides that desperately need it.

I guess it depends upon your definition of "need". The Haunted Mansion didn't "need" new scenes when it got some a few years back, and I haven't heard any one complain about that. To my knowlege, Small World didn't "need" the DL treatment to the loading area or the massive rehab it received which mostly revolved around asthetic enhancements rather than mechanical/technical improvements, yet I have heard no complaints. I remember people being excited hearing about the plans.

Also, "need" is hard to determine when we don't even know what they are doing yet. If this treatment enhances the queue and improves the guest experience, it would then be hard to argue that it wasn't needed. But since we don't even know what they are doing yet, not to mention how the guests will respond, then it is impossible to place judgment of need or lack there of.

So, what is in such great "need" for fixing that is not currently being worked on? Since MK is consistently one of the most visited theme parks in the world, do they really "need" to do anything at all?

More than often TDO doesn't have anything to do with the maintenence of attractions other than employing people to do the job. But the maintenence department in my mind have been given too much authority to determine what gets fixed and what doesn't. Most of Dinosaur's missing effetcs are due to the fact that maintenence doesn't want to bother with them anymore because certain ones are prone to constant break downs. Park Operations will bend backwards to please them but in the end it's maintenence that has complete control over an attraction and they use that power to it's full extent. At a starting rate of $29.75/hour you would be more dedicated. Even as I write this from work, 2 maintenence CMs are sleeping in ride vehicles and another 3 have been sleeping in the tunnel break room for two hours or more. It's such a common thing that it seems to be expected.

Please don't go, Raven. I really appreciate how you've been helping out us crazy fans the past several months (some of us crazier than others). I'm really glad you've been here for us, so please don't become a lurker because of some whiners.:(

Please don't let the foamers ruin it for the rest of us. Your hints and details are very much appreciated around here. WDWMagic in the last few years has lost way too many "good" posters because of a few pot-stirring forum members. It's really irritating.

Please don't join the group of former posters.

Someone told me the Mansion will be closed the entire month of January to install these additions/changes. Is that true? If it is, then all three Mansions will be down at the same time.

This.

It is a dicussion board, after all. There's nothing wrong with bringing up one's concerns about a coming change, as long as it's respectuful. We know Disney's not infallible, quite the opposite, so naturally talk of a change coming to one of our most beloved attractions will make us nervous. (I'm not, however, defending those whose skepticism results in outlandish and obnoxious posts. That's just plain annoying.)

Don't take it personally, Raven, that some are a little skeptical. We appreciate your updates very much. I'm just a skeptic until I see these changes, for reasons I've already stated in other posts. Hopefully I will be proven wrong.

sooooo people are mad because WDW is finally getting an awesome queue line?

make up your minds! do you want old, run-down WDW or do you want new and innovative?

you complain about lake of innovation and then when it finally happens you whine because a couple of tombstones are moving

Actually I like to see your usual insights, hints and posts, it's just that when it comes to HM, I'm nervous about any changes they could make to it.

I've noticed that "TDO" is the new hot word around here. It'll go the way of "plussing" and other phrases of the past. Usually when I blame someone, I'll blame Disney as a whole rather than just a certain person or group heh
