Well, as for cost, Current Savannah experiences range from about $65 for the Sunrise Safari to something like $150 for the Sunset Safari. My guess is it will be closer to the $150.

I think my 2 year old daughter will still be a bit small to have the attention span to get our moneys worth out of it. I hope it continues in the future though.

I'm with you on this one, and they will probably have a minimum age anyway. I also hope this continues so I can enjoy it when my little one is older!

I thought I'd read a rumor that this would:
  • Cost approximately $170/person
  • Group size is limited to roughly 12 people
  • Includes a lunch/dinner at Jiko
That would make sense to me, can't have too large of a walking tour, want to maximise dollars by offering something of perceived additional value (Jiko meal) and prices where only seriously interested parties would participate (and also likely prices out younger kids - I'd maybe spend that for me, but not on my young child).

We'll see. Mark this post and let's come back to it later.

You know, this would be a great thing if you decided to go to IoA for the day and then visit AK at night. And I wonder what sort of vehicle could be used to traverse the dense forests?

Anyone but me suspect that this is the boutique experience that Jungle Trek was ultimately slimmed down to? Sounds like pretty much the same concept, but utilizing existing resources instead of building a new park. Pretty smart, really.

I just reserved the Wanyama (Sunset) Safari at AKL and that was $170/person and includes a special dinner/wine pairing at Jiko, that tour runs every day of the week now. If you add another dozen or so people to the dozen on Wanyama, would that be too many for dinner? I guess it could be a different time.

My exact thoughts! I don't have any interest in this new walking tour but at least they're not going with that idiotic Jungle Trek concept.

I don't see how this would be a "smart" replacement for the Jungle Trek... When it really comes down to it, Disney is not going to be making tons of money on this. If there's a group of 12 at, say, $170 each, that's only $2040. Even if they have a handful of groups a day, it's maybe $10K. Back out costs, and they might clear $5k. Not a small number, but chump change when it comes to Disney Parks.

My guess is that this is an experiment to gauge interest in something larger. I definitely don't think they're doing this for the revenue. This is a test.

It's also possible that the conversation I heard mistakenly took this information as being for this new trek. They're a bit to similar then. Though, much more than that and I don't think too many people will do it.

Is this going to be similar to the Wildlife Discovery Excursion offered only to concierge/club level guests? I know that they are ending the Wildlife Discovery Excursion in December, as per the concierge cast member I spoke to last week.

They both just sound very similar.

EDIT:

I should clarify, the only part that I guess sounds similar is "...and then board a unique vehicle specially designed for the rest of the quest." And the part about having a Disney guide for each group. I guess the rest will be brand new, but perhaps the part using the ride vehicle will be borrowed from the Wildlife Discovery Excursion? Just a guess.

? What dense forests? If you've ever looked at an aerial view there really aren't any, they're just an illusion. Also it's hardly been stated this will be a walking tour!
