Voyage of the Little Mermaid is done, won't reopen with the parks.

Even worse, really, if I understand it correctly.

The Universal rides at least have motion simulation etc. tied in to what's happening on the screens. I don't think this would; I think it would be more like a dark ride on a track that just goes through screens and projections. Not 100% sure about that though.

so it would be like getting on a Doombuggy on the Haunted Mansion...but then whipping out your phone and watching it on YouTube instead. 😂

That's pretty much my understanding! @marni1971 could probably correct me if I'm wrong though.

I was under the impression that it wouldn't be just projections, but some scenery and physical props as well but that projections would be used for the "action". Also, it would be a trackless ride so there's the potential to have the vehicles do more varied things than just move from scene to scene in a line.

I think I remember hearing trackless too actually. And while there definitely could be some scenery and physical props, I'm pretty sure they would be kept to a minimum because otherwise it defeats the purpose of being able to quickly shift it to a new theme without any significant downtime.

I'm sure some would exist though; I don't think it would be 100% screens/projections with absolutely nothing else.

A ride that's essentially completely empty on the inside. Exists through projections/screens so that they could retheme it to something new every few years without having to do any construction work.
I kinda wonder if MMRR could be considered a "black box" (just swap out the AAs/front sign).

I think “black box” in this context means “black box theater”, which is essentially an empty theater space that can be repurposed as needed. Many high schools have “black box” theaters.

there isn’t enough space for an entire attraction within the footprint in the theater, even if the space behind it were included.

No, it's planned to be a ride, not a theater.

It’s a ride and there is plenty of space

Oh, so like MMRR? 😂

Hah, I was expecting someone to say this! It is kind of similar, but I think MMRR has far more going on than is easily visible at a glance, like the whole scene change from the boiler room to the garden. That isn't just a projection change; there's a lot of moving parts involved.

I know, I know. Still bitter over that GMR thing.
