Disney won't do Velocicoaster, that's a little too rough for kids.

RnR or Tron is the fastest (or i guess most thrilling) they should go, especially considering it's already a thrilling ride for kids based off of villains theming.

Even though villains is something that all ages (teens / adults / etc) want, they need it to appeal to the kids too.
I personally agree with you but I also never would have thought that anything as thrilling as Tron would ever happen in Magic Kingdom so I can’t 100% rule out an actual thrill coaster for Villain’s land.

I foolishly hope this moves the needle and makes Disney get more ambitious for their Villains Land.

I'm also a realist and recognize this just means a new cupcake.

I think Epic is going to force Disney to respond in a big way, similar to how the Harry Potter lands resulted in Pandora and Galaxies Edge.

It’s sad that Disney is now reactionary rather than the industry leader but as long as Uni keeps raising the bar I think Disney will have no other choice but to respond to keep up with them.

What’s scary is to think where Disney would be had Uni not become a legitimate competitor, I think without Uni the most we could hope for from modern Disney would be more replacements like MMRR and TBA, without Uni I don’t think we’d be getting anything from Disney but more DVC and the occasional retheme/replacement.

They're probably gonna learn the wrong lesson from Epic Universe.
They're gonna learn that Single IP lands are the definitive future and not understand the IPs for EU were picked for a Very Good Reason and cannot apply to every single IP out there. Looking forward to Disney trying to justify why Chicken Little needs a Galaxy Edge scale land!

This land may be the one I'm most excited about. With the bar raised high by Epic Universe, I'm hopeful Disney does a fantastic job with it. It's their only chance to pull it off well with all the hard lessons they learned from Galaxy's Edge.

That's scarier than any would-be villains or monster's land.
After today’s Monstrous news I don’t think Disney can even come close. The true “Villains Land” opens next year, and I’ll be there on Day 1 :)
Sure that isn't just CGI? I don't doubt they'll be hyper-fluid and best Disney at their own game but I remain doubtful that Uni's latest hype reel showed actual animatronics.

Disney needs to step up their game. Honestly, at this point, I'd prefer they ditch the Villains concept. (blasphemous to many)

Since this is the land being made very specifically to compete with Epic and also that it’s the one that’s being made “for the fans” I think (or at least hope) that of all the projects this will be the one where some real effort will be put into it.

It will need to be an indoor land so the sky can actually fall. 😂

If you are talking about this video, these are the animatronics, not CGI.

What happened where Universal does something and then, years and years later, Disney finally provides their "answer" instead of being the leader in the area? Oh yeah, that's right - They hired a former weatherman and general coattail-rider as their CEO.

Uni gets rights to Harry Potter, which opened in 2010. Disney announces Pandora in 2011 and then opens it *6* years later. Uni announces Epic Universe and opens it in 2025, Disney won't have anything ready "in response" until at least 2027, if not '28-29. Yet Bob talked about knowing, FOR A DECADE, what Universal's plans were. And it looks like Universal is going to stomp on anything Disney's done in years, and going to do in the foreseeable future, with what is opening at Epic. The best they can do is announce "plans" and "we're moving dirt!!!". When are people going to wake up and smell what Bob's been shoveling for 15+ years?

IPs go in and out of popularity. I actually think that some of the IP’s in Epic are not as strong as some think. What’s impressive is the quality that’s being put into Epic. I would argue that one of the more popular IPs like Mario won’t be anywhere near the popularity as it should be due to the ride just being ok.

I’m hoping the lesson Disney learns is it’s the quality that’s counts, not the IP. Do you really think veloci-coaster would be any less popular if it was themed to a lesser IP. No, no it wouldn’t. Once again it’s the ride.

i don’t know…. IMO Universal has taken their foot off the gas for the past few years. I get people love coasters but what else have they done besides velocicoaster. They’ve had a few stinkers now too. Kong(just ok), Fast n Ferious, Dream works land, and that stand up shooter thing. Not to mention Universal has 2 aging parks that are starting to show their age. They will have to invest heavily in these parks after Epic.

Ultimately, I think Universal and Disney will just keep challenging each other for dominance in the industry and that is awesome for us!!!

I can only think of Dragons as somewhat questionable. The other 3 have more than proven their worth.

Yes USF is basically their Epcot that’s in need of a big makeover. It’s easily their weakest park by a mile. IoA not really as much since what it does have is almost all really good.
