MK Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Disney certainly has shown ample ability to disappoint me, but I’d be surprised if they don’t at least put a ride show building outside the RR berm. Which is pretty standard operating procedure for Disney.

I’m really not sure they need to. Mystic Point and Grizzly Gulch take up a (generously measured) 8 acres. As a singular land that feels big enough to me. With wiggle room and an extra acreage to spare for fireworks viewing. They just need to utilize the land correctly and not have the coaster waste space like Slinky dog does. Concept art seems to suggest it comes into the land itself analogous to Grizzly.

They really just need some back of house access in the lay down yards outside the berm. Which I assume will remain.

Now that show buildings need not be obscured, out-of-berm placement is less likely, no? (Indeed, they can disappoint!)

Any credibility to the thought they might use the plot right behind small world for a few extra acres?
I’d say it’s credible that conservations are happening about ways to add space but I’m curious about what that means for the budget of the overall project. I’d rather have a small well funded land than a huge area that ran out of money to build anything amazing.

I still kinda wish they were bringing Villains to DHS. Remove Indy and build into the parking lot. I do like the story of villains in MK but it just seems like it would solve a lot of problems by allowing Cars to push back a bit. As long as they built some rides without a height restriction too, I think it could be a home run.

Course, playing devil’s advocate, A Maleficent coaster and a villains stage show would round out the offering nicely at Mk and be more redundant at DHS.

I hope they have a really good plan in place.

I think Villains is perfect at Magic Kingdom and only kind of makes sense at DHS because of Fantasmic.

Of the two, I'd rather Cars be going into DHS and Villains being a go for Magic.

I also highly doubt the "second major attraction" is referring to a stage show. The way it was framed at D23 is sounded like two rides.

That's a good point. Plus, the Villains will get their own show right across the street next to RnRC. Makes you wonder if RnRC + ToT could have been rethemed to villains and they drop the Sunset Boulevard theme in that area.

I think Disney knew that just retheming 2 rides and 1 show and incorporating a show would not make people very happy with a Villians land. It's definitely up there in even the general public for what people wanted in the parks. It would be like announcing Rock N Rollercoaster becoming the Monsters Inc Coaster as a retheme without any suspension.

I really hope whatever they do there doesn't have the same effect on fireworks as what they did in DHS.

for sure - I hope what winds up happening is similar to what is going on now at Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland where they leverage the main park's fireworks but then have different music, etc to provide a different experience

I think that would be cool to have a villains version of the show going on ... would help spread the crowd some (and from Disney's end they can sell more dessert parties)

That would be awesome for the fireworks

Imagine its an entirely different show essentially utilizing the alternate angle of the fireworks with a cool lighting package change for the land afterwards for the last hour or so of operation.
