That’s rude…
That’s rude…
It just struck me as odd that in this day and age there are guns trained sniper style at riders in a theme park. Yes I guess they have been there all along and maybe if I knew that it would make it less weird. But in 2024, with all the insanity of the news, it was a weird discovery. I am not saying it shook me to my core or even that I was distraught by it. It is just an observation. Why was it unsettling? They are not real and could not even fire a blank.
I guess if you’ve never been to Fort Langholm you wouldn’t have known.Went and explored the entirety of Tom Sawyer’s island on my WDW trip last week. I had never been the fort on the very back of the island. Had no clue there was a jail, AAs, escape tunnels, and other sights. The boats were packed with people getting one last look. One bizarre discovery were the guns you could fire from the fort that point right at Big Thunder Mountain riders. Yes, obviously it is all fake but it was unsettling to realize all this time riding Big Thunder we were being shot at. Who knew?!?!
It is just kind of odd, I guess. Maybe surprising is a better word.I guess if you’ve never been to Fort Langholm you wouldn’t have known.
But what exactly was it unsettling about finding out that kids have been aiming at the Big Thunder riders for decades?
I feel like everyone is reading too much into someone being surprised that the guns shoot at the ride… Like I am surprised too considering that it’s 2024 and Disney has been trying to distance themselves from anything that could be problematic, too scary/violent etc, and this one little thing has managed to slip through the cracks.Kids are playing uber violent games online, all the time with graphic violent rendering.... and no one will say a thing about it...but an old Western fort that has guns is somehow a huge problem...Yes by this minute's filter it seems odd....but odder still is feeling surprised at this old fort and not being outraged at the constant barrage of super violent content kids are subjected to on a daily basis...and that includes everyone's beloved Super Heroes... the guns used to have a pneumatic pop when you pulled the trigger too...but that was when they were shooting at nothing...and before a little girl got her finger stuck in the trigger and was injured...I think all the triggers were removed or disabled after that...
Somehow it’s OK to have Storm Troopers with guns walking around Galaxy’s Edge. But letting kids go pew-pew in a Fort is problematic?I feel like everyone is reading too much into someone being surprised that the guns shoot at the ride… Like I am surprised too considering that it’s 2024 and Disney has been trying to distance themselves from anything that could be problematic, too scary/violent etc, and this one little thing has managed to slip through the cracks.
You can be surprised at the fort and also outraged at kids violent content, I don’t think they are mutually exclusive.
Hey man I agree with you, I guess I should have said Disney loves to pick and choose what is “problematic” enough to distance from themselvesSomehow it’s OK to have Storm Troopers with guns walking around Galaxy’s Edge. But letting kids go pew-pew in a Fort is problematic?
Has anyone been able to guestimate how big Villains Land is expected to be?
Star Wars is 14 acres, TSL is 11.
We were told the expansion would be equivalent to SWL.
ROA and all the undeveloped land behind it within the RR tracks happens to be 14 acres.
Both
The concept art shows the Cars Mini-Land extending to across the BTMR, so it should cover about 6 acres as such....

No.
We have the art for Piston Peak Cars which is on TSI and the lower RoA loop.
Then we have Villains going "beyond BTMR," which could mean the rest of RoA, or, beyond the train berm.
But, most likely all of RoA.
Cars and Villains was said to comparable in size to SWL, which is 14 acres. And, coincidentally, all of RoA and surrounding wetlands up to the train tracks is... 14 acres.
So...
That would be disappointing, as it would mean Villains is nowhere near the scale of Galaxy’s Edge or even Pandora… despite Disney recently emphasizing how scale is one of the features that differentiates them from the competition, and Josh D’Amaro saying Villains would be “on a grand scale that only Disney can deliver.”Just a guess, then: 14 acres - 6.5 acres = 7.5 acres for Villains.
I have found the use of space is more important than the raw acreage. Cars Land and TSL are almost the same size, maybe an acre difference, but one is far superior to the other. With what sounds like only two attractions, that could be enough. I do think I remember hearing something about a potential expansion plot behind Small World that could add like 3 acres or so.That would be disappointing, as it would mean Villains is nowhere near the scale of Galaxy’s Edge or even Pandora… despite Disney recently emphasizing how scale is one of the features that differentiates them from the competition, and Josh D’Amaro saying Villains would be “on a grand scale that only Disney can deliver.”
You're right, TSL is a much superior use of the space.I have found the use of space is more important than the raw acreage. I do think 10 or 11 acres would make it better. 7.5-8 would potentially feel very small and congested.
What does B&M Invert mean? You're right, TSL is a much superior use of the space.
For Villains land if it's that small, the B&M invert will take up most of that space.
It's a coaster model. An example would be Nemesis at Alton TowersWhat does B&M Invert mean?
Inverted coasters such as Banshee at Kings Island or Montu at Busch Gardens. What does B&M Invert mean?
Have we heard that it would be that model of coaster? It's a coaster model. An example would be Nemesis at Alton Towers
We haven't but I would love to see it.Have we heard that it would be that model of coaster?
