Who said that?

I would think most critical folks here would talk about "expanding the parks" in terms of adding new experiences without destroying older attractions, which... Villains doesn't do.
Villains is being built on currently undeveloped land. It's the Cars stuff that is resulting in the the destruction of RoA/TSI/Liberty Belle.

They talked about the land at D23 Brazil, showing some of the villains that will be featured in the land, some of the story. We only know about the coaster in the initial concept art, but nothing about the second major ride.

There is a reason for this for when VIllian land opens. I keep saying to people to temper their expectations just a bit.

If there is a second major ride.... Given the timeline and the probability that Carsland ROA will run massively over budget, we will probably get one decent ride and something else... spinner, Meet and greet... C ticket... 5 years out with how everything else has gone, is a long long time...

Yup. Just like that third major land that was part of the MGM redo - the one they actually spent money reconfiguring the parking lot to accommodate.

They may build this land. I’d give it about a 55% chance. But I don’t think we’ve seen anything that should come close to convincing us. Remember the “Beyond Thunder Mountain” material that was displayed at D23 a year or so ago that has disappeared into thin air?

Right now, the primary use of “Villains Land” for Disney is to mute criticism of the loss of RoA. Or does everyone think it’s a coincidence they announced two decades-old “fan-favorite” additions to cover the removal of Rivers and, probably, Muppets?

Actually, I'd put Villains much higher. I think of the projects announced that have not started, it's the least likely to get cut (cause I think they know it's going to have the largest return). I think Cars is more likely to get cut, or I'm really 50/50 on if they just scrap Monsters all together. That one felt like it was a throw in without a plan, and they still haven't even figured out where to put it.

Or maybe nothing is getting cut and they are building everything they said they were going to build.
maybe... but we have seen a good deal of things announced and then cut....
so perhaps they will be built but Value Engineered...or maybe they will actually really pull out the stops and do something spectacular... Hard to know at this point.
Only thing I know is that the Cars franchise doesn't fit Frontierland...and the removal of the ROA feels like a gigantic mistake.

Remember when before D23 people on here were saying Disney needed to announce Villains Land to show they were committed to actually expanding the parks as part of the 60 million expansion? Now they have, Disney is in the wrong the announcing things too early?
You're conflating two different points here.
