Vague TEST TRACK confirmation from Disney Parks Blog

Nascar has nothing to do with Future World. Atleast GM can update it so we see technology we could be driving in the future.

True...I know what you're saying... but isn't that like the Tomorrowland Speedway having nothing to do with "Tomorrowland"

I'm not sure a whole lot in Future World has much to do about the Future anymore

The Epcot Manifesto
GM is forking the money over for one reason....They feel that they will get a return on their investment. Sponsorship of the attraction is no different then GM making a commercial for TV. I'll wager that their entire investment in TT will not be much more than a couple of TV spots during the Super Bowl

Exactly. I wish Disney / Epcot would be able to use this logic to communicate with other potential sponsors. I would think that the "sponsorship cost" of a pavilion could be had for the cost of a couple Super Bowl commercials, 90% of which are bad and 99% of which are forgotten in a week. The cumulative number of eyes on your brand over the lifetime of a sponsorship contract HAS to outweigh the effect of a Super Bowl commercial buy.

Disney Person: "So, Mr. Executive, what were you thinking about for your Super Bowl ad this year?"

Marketing Executive: "Well, we were going to have this dancing baby, and he's going to kick someone in the crotch and then an animal is going to make a witty comment on it!"

Disney Person: "Don't you think a 10 year sponsorship contract for an Epcot Pavilion might be a better use of your $3.5 million than a 30 second ad buy? 10 years at 10.8 million visitors is about the same number of eyes as in one Super Bowl, and you have a captive audience for 5-7 minutes (10-14 times longer than your ad buy) during a fun filled ride, who will have a much better impression of your brand and what it does, than your lovely dancing baby idea..."

I'm excited, but at the same time sad because now both of my favorite rides are being refurbed (if I end up going in May-- Big Thunder & Test Track) I'm sure it will be worth it though :)

I have the same problem. I am going April 21. My son has just gotten up the confidence to go on all roller coasters. The two I have been trying to get him to go on are BTM and TT. I hope at least TT closes later on in my vaca.

So, what happened to the WOM like components of this refurb?

Unfortunately it's probably this point of view that's the reason the rides aren't pristine and updated.

I've never understood it, either. If a ride's closed while I'm there I shrug my shoulders and walk to the next one.
At the risk of being sent by Glados for more testing :), I should point out that "pristine," although now used as an upscale synonym for "very clean," really means "in its original condition." So something can't be both pristine and updated.

Anyway, though, I don't think the attitude of "not during my vacation" has anything to do with poor attraction upkeep and updates. I just think Disney has gotten cheap, although perhaps the "not during my vacation" attitude is something they might use as an excuse. A lot of the maintenance issues I see are small things that could be done third shift anyway.

I like this! TT is my favorite EPCOT attraction so I'm happy to see it get some TLC.

But I'm wondering about the queue. Will you create your car and then go wait in line? Or will this be more like Dumbo? You create your car and then wander the showroom until your number is called? Thoughts?

I really dislike that queue, so I'd be more than happy to see it gone.

I was wondering the same thing, I don't know how they'd make it seem like you're testing out your design when theres other people and presumably other designs in the same car as you.

I am wondering if effects of the "design" will only be represented by information on the video screens in the car and not the actual behavior of the ride. I have only road Test Track once so I can't remember how many screens there are, but I know there is at least one per row. This would still be a problem with single riders, unless they add screens for each rider.

That's what I have been hearing the ride will stay the same for everyone, only the show will be different there maybe some video screens in the ride itself showing your design and not sure how it will work for multiple designs in the same vehicle.

Anyone think that they may re-open the Wonders Of Life pavilion while the work on Test Track is being done this year? I thin that would be a great idea as it would help to reduce complaints that a major ride is closed during the peak summer months and would also help to draw some crowds so Soarin' isn't flooded with guests everyday. I think they need to do this since Test Track & Soarin' are arguably the two biggest attractions in Epcot & closing one will mean the crowds will be big at other rides - so opening WOL Pav. will help with crowds and complaints. I'm crossing my fingers that Disney realizes this is the best decision to make while TT is down.

Gotta admit I would like to check out WOL as it has never been open when we have visited.

There isn't anything left operational in the WoL Pavilion to open.

No reason to open WoL. There are no useable attractions in there.

The reason for the annoucement being so vague is because they are still working on perfecting the details.

There has been some arguing between two parties about what they can and won't do.

Everything right now seems to be changing. I have seen little things changing in the actual ride. Both the preshow and postshow will be changing (as the announcement states).

This is not the only thing coming to Epcot. Something big after this refurbishment is coming.

Magic Kingdom is not the only park getting additions to certain rides and lands.

I'm glad TT is getting some love. I'm in a similar position as you -going in April and wondering whether TT and BTMRR will be closed at the same time. At the risk of drawing derision of some, it does aggravate me just a tad that I might be faced with the closure of two headliners while going the week after Easter, a time when WDW gigs up the prices.
I've gone before when two biggies have been closed, but that has always been offseason.

So you are following up a vague annoucement with something even more vague?

OK ... we have 59 folks reading a thread on nothing (that's just for my personal social media checklist).

You've gotta give it to that cutie Jenn ... the way she can snag a nice salary from Disney to say absolutely nothing when she isn't tweeting up the straight fanbois out there (do I need a sarcastic smiley?)

Great post: are there going to be any changes to the ride portion of the attraction?
Jenn (using her best Disney BSpeak): You'll have to wait and see! (oh, and have a MAGICal day)

UGH!!!!!!!!

Why do people still expect so much from Disney when all they wind up with in FLA is so much disappointment (and timeshares ... DVC IS Disney's Best Kept Secret ... well, other than what goes down at 1401 Flower)?
