Vague TEST TRACK confirmation from Disney Parks Blog

Here, guests will become automotive designers and create their own custom vehicles. Next, they’ll buckle into a six-person SimCar ride vehicle and test out their design on the challenging track of the Test Track course.

I wonder how that will work if you are a single rider or 2 people with a group of 4-5 in front of you. Chances are you will have no say in the matter.
I was wondering the same thing, I don't know how they'd make it seem like you're testing out your design when theres other people and presumably other designs in the same car as you.

Good question. But chances are the design "options" will be limited to 2 or 3 things. Or maybe "invisible" options like horsepower...engine type...titanium or aluminum wheels...you know, stuff that looks the same regardless of what you choose.

As long as this give the queue and postshow more of a EC/WOM aesthetic and less of the factory feel, I'll be happy.

Not an epic refurb but for the timeframe sounds like a good upgrade.

Gonna miss all those Hidden Mickeys in the old queue. Glad to see Test Track is getting worked on though. Hardly any of the effects worked when I went in June of 2010. Hope the ride itself gets some new scenery and not just the queue.

Sounds like the queue will be interactive but the ride basically the same?
It will be similar. I do not see the track layout changing at all and I am assuming that your new test car will undergo the same tests that are currently in the attraction. Hopefully the place will be cleaned up a good bit with new audio, video etc as well as new set pieces. I would also assume that all new dialogue and video will need to be recorded as well.

And of course bring in the Lightcyles and the lighting to bring us The Grid.

please?

Well, I think it is about time. TT is popular but it has needed an updating and maybe the theming will be a little less industrial and a little bit more imaginative and futuristic.

This is one of the most vague and confusing announcements ever.

No concept art. No real details. No clear explanation.

We'll see what the finished product is.

I think it's sad that most of the reply comments on the Disney Parks Blog are people (understandably) worried that Test Track will be closed for their summer trips (understandably b/c I'm sure this came out of nowhere for most people). It's just like we have discussed here many times--everyone wants the rides to be pristine and updated as long as there are no refurbishments during "MY vacation."

I personally think summer is the most logical time to close Test Track--it regularly closes for hours each day in the summer due to the thunderstorms.

Unfortunately it's probably this point of view that's the reason the rides aren't pristine and updated.

I've never understood it, either. If a ride's closed while I'm there I shrug my shoulders and walk to the next one.

I agree summer is probably the best time to close TT in that respect...but it's also going to explode Soarin's line. Hopefully

as much as I love Disney and Test Track...I'm not sure GM should really be forking over all this money when they are mainly alive today because of tax payer/govt money and are sending things like Volt production to China. I don't know... maybe this is just a part of marketing but for some reason this just doesn't pass the sniff test for me.

Please - I DO NOT want this to cause a political argument or discussion... but this just doesn't feel right to me

I think it would have been interesting if something like NASCAR would sponsor it... turn it into like a Daytona Speedway like attraction....and see if several sponsors of NASCAR would help pay some to have their logos splashed all over the place. Just a thought...it could work and even generate more $ if done correctly

Nascar has nothing to do with Future World. Atleast GM can update it so we see technology we could be driving in the future.

I just hope they can do something to update the ride from its constant breakdowns! It never fails, I walk up, its a 45 minute wait and Im like "FINE, I'll wait the 45 minutes since I skipped it last trip!! So I get in line and after Im halfway through the line the ride breaks down and I end up waiting an extra 30 minutes for the line to start moving again. Hopefully they can do something to fix this issue.

GM is forking the money over for one reason....They feel that they will get a return on their investment. Sponsorship of the attraction is no different then GM making a commercial for TV. I'll wager that their entire investment in TT will not be much more than a couple of TV spots during the Super Bowl
