Updates to the Seas Pavilion

Any word about anything at all for the Seas going forward or did Covid effectively ruin any chance for anything? I’d love if they could at least replace the hideous sign out front with the epcot font.

Last update for my rumor tracker:

August 28, 2020: WDWMagic.com user @marni1971 is reporting that the budget for updates to The Seas Pavilion was $125 million and the timeline was 2025. He also indicated that due to COVID-19 these plans may have changed.

FWIW, I saw an older budget of $100 million for The Seas, but at this point it's pretty safe to say that none of this pre-COVID info can be considered verifiable anymore.

I believe there was also mention of updated hydrolaters.

I will N. E. V. E. R. understand how anyone would spend $100 million+ on The Seas before addressing the decades-long travesty that is Imagination.

I mean, unless the thought was that by the time they'd be spending this money Imagination would have been totally transformed. But otherwise . . . it boggles. I wouldn't mind seeing The Seas get some love, but TALK about priorities.

Do you think any of the already announced things WON'T be open by Oct 1, 2022?
Probably a lot of it. That's my prediction because COVID keeps messing up everything, but that's purely a guess.

As for the Seas, I really don't see the need to update it yet. Sure, its over 13 years old, but it still looks good. Maybe fix the broken shark that's supposed to come out of the sub.

What is left for WDW? By then wouldn’t everything be open?
Epcot timetable discussion is in this thread...

Honestly with the few updates to signage and maintenance, the potential $100 million (or whatever ended up being greenlit or scaled back) might have mostly been spent already. Keeping an eye on the Permits Tracker thread, Disney filed a bunch of stuff for Seas at the back of house. Remember, it’s a very large and complex aquarium with living sea creatures that require a lot to take care of.

As previously mentioned, for WDI $100 million really isn’t a lot. GotG was originally approved for $450 million and has gone over budget.

Not sure if this was there plan at all with that $100 million, but would there be a way to install hydrolators somewhere in the queue before hide and seek with nemo? Then after you exit the hydrolator you can choose to either go on the ride or just go to sea base? I feel like that would make the sea base feel more like an attraction of its own rather than just the exit of the nemo ride.

But isn't the design of the current queue meant to create the impression that you're slowly descending under water? The hydrolators took us "under" "quickly". I would think that to bring back the hydrolators, guests would need to be given the express descent or the slow descent option.
