UOR looking very rundown

Slow?? I'm just going to quietly whisper Pandora.

And I am going to loudly exclaim, AN EXAMPLE OF ANOTHER COMPANY BEING SLOW ON A PROJECT DOES
NOT MAKE THE UNIVERSAL PROJECTS GO FASTER!!!! (by the way the new Potter Coaster is one project that is
going along at a good pace.)

True story. UO hasn't been that slow, I mean they put up the worst attraction in the history of the universe quite quickly. :joyfull:

It is one thing not announcing, why is it Universal seems to be moving at a snails pace to get anything, (ride or show), done.
They are getting more rooms for more guests. It is time to give those guests more things to do.

Rides opened in Universal in the past 8 years:
Forbidden Journey
Minion Mayhem
Transformers
Gringotts
Hogwarts Express
Kong
Fallon
F&F

Not including things like the redo of the Spider-Man attraction, rebuilding Hulk, debuting 2 nighttime shows at USF, the nighttime lights at Hogwarts, a new parade, a new Christmas parade, and Volcano Bay.

There are plenty of potential complaints against Universal, whether I personally agree with them or not. But "not giving people enough new stuff" or "moving at a snail's pace" just is not one of them.

Pandora’s construction was on the longer side of average. It seems longer because there was a good 3 years before they even broke ground.

Ummm, destruction of dueling dragons and construction of potter coaster is slow??? Check your bias please...
Or I guess we could have an announcement of an announcement ala WDW...

BTW they did announce a coaster is coming,

On a side note I priced up Orlando from the UK yesterday for next year and I’ve never seen it so cheap. Less than $1000 each for 17 nights (based on 2 people) staying on I drive in May...including flights, with Virgin. Couldn’t believe it. There’s either been decreases for the weak pound, or huge discounts offered. Disney hotels cheaper too....Universal Hard Rock for around $2500 each incl flights.

I checked booking Disney hotels direct with Disney (with the UK free dining) and they were coming out at extortionate prices for me, although a lot of the Disney resorts didn't have much availability. It was a good £500+ more than our trip two years ago for a two week stay.
I've never really looked at staying on I-Drive though, always done Disney.

But Virgin Atlantic has been putting out some cheap deals recently so I think their flights are low at the moment, they even had 3 night stays in New York for £400 flight and hotel! I think I've seen flight only to Orlando for around £400 too.

I actually mentioned the Potter coaster has been going along at a good pace. Things like the replacement of T2, and how long the
"rumors" of a third park have been around. I saw one of the discussions on the third park or revisions to the KidZone started 7 years
ago and nothing has come to fruition. Again, I would like to also say, stating a ride, land, whatever, being done slowly, is not an
excuse for being slow.

The replacement of T2 will take like 18-20 months. How that is “slow” is beyond me.

They only got the land they needed for the third park in the last few years. Work started almost immediately afterwards. What do you want man? Lol

Part of the problem is impatient fans get themselves worked into a frenzy over rumors and they start their own personal clock before Universal is ready to take action.

Universal isn't slow. And comparisons to the closest competition are entirely appropriate because there is no other benchmark.

I'd rather Universal slow down and focus on quality. They have a lot going on. Better to do it right than keep churning out lame attractions at a fast clip.

18-20 months for something, that has been described as a stunt show. Think of what you are talking about. It took less time than
that to set up the Summer light, water, laser, pyrotechnics show and that included a new seating area. The reality of the situation,
even if some do not want to admit it, there are some things that are going much slower than they should be.

The most recent land purchase (several hundred acres) was in April of this year. That was the final barrier to beginning work on their third gate. Moving Nintendo to the new park makes sense, hopefully they also expand the land they were originally clearing for it at US.

Well, at least there is one excuse for Fast & Furious. :D

They submitted plans for the construction of Volcano Bay in the beginning of 2015, and the park opened in May of 2017. That's not slow by any measure.

A stunt show that will require reworking of an existing stage, building, and area. I think your expectations are out of whack.

Keep telling yourself that, when you walk into UOR, take a right walking through a dead zone.
The fact of the matter is with better planning, the area would not have been left empty for that
long. If it helps, I think your expectations are too low.

Okay, how could "Better Planning" have made a project magically take less time to complete?

God, I hope you are not serious with that response.
When they closed T2 they said it was going to be a 2019 attraction.

It was planned out well. There is just a lot of work needed in the transformation. They gutted the theater, removed the lifts and are filling in the pits, doubling the size of the armory and then rebuilding the stage and seating area.

They are on schedule and already blocking the new show utilizing the stunt actors and tech crew from Sindbad's.

I think the question could be better phrased as..without having any of the data that UO had available to them as their decisions were being made, how would you plan it better to speed things up?

T2 closed less than a year ago, while I hate that it closed I'm not seeing a problem with it taking time to re-open. You, nor I, nor anyone who isn't working on the project to replace it has any idea what's going on inside that of building or in any of the meetings, conversations, or planning surrounding it right now.
