I wouldn't be surprised if that or universal-excitment is......

(I would think that they can build this in the park... esp if it was a concept ride from the begining....)

Last time I was at IOA, I noticed land across the street from Ripsaw Falls, I believe that is the south of the park. Does that land belong to Universal and if so, is it future resort property, park expansion, or unkown?

Everything on the east side of Turkey Lake Road is Universal property. There was talk of building timeshares and a golf course on that property, with some of the golf course on the west side of Turkey Lake Road.....just south of Wallace.

Dr Philips residents balked at the idea of the golf course, and it was tied up in court for a while, then when Universal bought the Lockheed land, they sold the land on the west side of TL road, which now is being built on with houses and condos.

Universal owns Wet N Wild, but leases the land on which it is located. It would not surprise me in Wet N Wild is eventually relocated to Universal property.

So let me see if I understand, the land on the across the road from ripsawfalls is there properity and they might relocate wet n wild there?

Does Universal have any expansion land for their parks, or any land availible for a fourth resort. In my opinion based on what I have been hearing about their resorts always being filled and the high prices, a fourth resort seems to be a higher priority for them. What do you think?

Their is 2 parcels of land in IOA not built on, one of which you can see near DR. Phillips High School.... and the other is next to Jurassic Park river Adventure...

In Universal their is one piece of land not built on which you can see form Back To The future's second but better from the third story, (this was where the mummy track was stored i belive....)

I think they should move Wet & Wild first to on property. Then see if they can fill in with a new one or Expand a resort if possable...

Disney building rides is actually good for Uni. It provides a reason for upper management to open the coffers for Universal Creative.

Actually, I don't think it is. I mean, look at it this way. In the past coupel of ears and in the next couple, WDW got Expedition: Everest, Mission: SPACE, PhillharMagic, Stitch's Great Escape, Soarin', and Lights Motors Action Stunt Spectacular. Universal Studios got Revenge of the Mummy. Doesn't quite add up, now does it?

Don't forget about Shrek 4-D and Jimmy Neutron.

The parks don't add up though.....WDW has 4 parks, Universal only has 2.

Okay, people, this thread should probably end right here. I'm sure you've all been in a Univ. vs. Disney argument on some forum, but if you haven't believe me when I tell you that it gets UGLY real fast (I was actually kicked off of a particular forum just for being in one!). I know it's not too bad right now, but the mud could start flinging real soon, make no mistake. I'm sure the web masters don't want another UE vs. WDW p***ing match to start up. So let's just pack up and find another entertaining thread to post on, n'kay?

We weren't arguing opinion. It was a discussion dealing solely with the amound of rides opened recently when comparing Disney to Universal. We;ve had the "fights" on here, and this one doesn't even look to be heading that way.

I've "heard" that there's room for two more resorts, and I do believe that can be possible.

If they only had never sold that Lockheed land.... :(

I remember hearing that when Universal was sold to NBC, the Lockheed site was not part of the deal, and Vivendi sold it.

I don't know if that is true, but I guess the reality is that maybe Universal realized that another park isn't needed and maybe never will be needed in already, theme park saturated, Orlando. Some could say that now yes it is not needed, but maybe 15 or 20 years yes, but wouldn't they still have to pay property taxes. Maybe they figured it isn't worth the money, since they have to pay taxes and also clean the property.

It would be screwed up if Universal sold the properity because they knew that the property would never be allowed to be used for residental or entertainment purposes, due to the site being polluted.

Vivendi sold the Lockheed property to try and pull as much money in for their company prior to the buy-out. If they hadn't have sold it, NBC would have still had it, but it was not a major concern, so Vivendi got away with it. (It's a shrewed business move that I'm not going to argue with, it's that the resort is going to suffer for it.) They still have the room for a couple more resorts, and the actually have the room for another IOA sized theme park (which was in the plans as of 2002 and the land was actually being developed). However, it all comes down to priority. To be frank, I think building two more hotels, one park and moving Wet-n-Wild on property would be enough for Universal to have a very solid week-long vacation. However, we probably aren't going to know for sure what is going to happen at least until 2008, most likely 2010. The industry is just starting to built back up again, so major growth will be happening soon enough.

The red box is the edge of the Universal Property.

The yellow box represents the undeveloped land, which is bisected by a road (Access to I-4)

The Teal box is the land that they were to build a golf course on, but have since sold, and now homes are being built there.

Their are unused signs pointing to the undeveloped land... Was it ever used for a parking lot??

(Bad they had to sell the golfcourse land.. Wet N Wild would fit their nicely with room for expansion...)

No.....not since the first garage opened in 1995.

The land was marked for development....signage is expensive, so the blank signs were probably for the golf course and the timeshare development.

Looking at that photo it doesn't seem to be that much room in the yellow outline for an additional park, resort, and wet n wild. Is it pretty safe to say that a resort would probably be placed in the the yellow area. There also seems to be development on the land.

Also, the backstage area just behind the mummy seems to be spread out. Do you think Universal should build a parking garage for their cast members up on the northern edge of the property and consolidate the land in the backstage for expansion of Universal Park.
