Universal's Future

Also, the backstage area just behind the mummy seems to be spread out. Do you think Universal should build a parking garage for their cast members up on the northern edge of the property and consolidate the land in the backstage for expansion of Universal Park.
There are too many administrative buildings behind the Studios for park expansion to be feasible. Right behind Mummy is the Cafeteria for Team Members, right behind Earthquake is Wardrobe. The only area that could be built back is the area from Jaws to MiB/Back to the Future (Expecting WWWStunt Show Theater to be demolished and next Studios attraction to be back there). However, even that developemnt is limited, due to the location of Hard Rock Hotel.

What I'm trying to say is is that there are a lot of buildings behind the Studios, and so trying to push back into them might not be worth all the money in destruction.

I just skimmed through the first three pages of this thread, so if I missed any of these points, I apologize.

First, NBC-Unviersal has ALREADY sold off its Port Aventura theme park in Spain. The park still maintains the name (and I imagine gets royalties from it), but NBC-Universal no longer has a stake in the park in Spain.

Also, of interest and possible indication of NBC's plans for future parks is the sudden halt of any plans to build a park in Shanghai that Viviendi-Universal had previously announced. Since then, all members of Universal Creative working on that project were either laid off or moved to work on something else.

The interest of parent company GE in the theme parks has always been questioned, although recent trends in the market have been very promosing as people literally flock to Orlando to visit WDW and UO. Will this be enough to keep cost-conscious GE interested in the park? Don't know.

As for the Jeep ride in IOA...it seems like one of those rumors similar to that of Beastly Kingdom at AK. Not saying it isn't going to happen, but I'm not betting anything on it. Afterall, this is the same company who, based soleley on RUMORS, stopped the Universal Creative team from finsihing preliminary work on a Van Helsing attraction (BEFORE the movie underperformed) because of increasing steel costs. How much truth there is to that I have absolutley NO idea and again I'm not betting anything on the validity of that, but, if true, the reality of rising cost of steel isn't stopping Disney down the road from building a 200 foot mountain of steel at AK, a huge show building at Epcot, and a large stadium at MGM. Either way, IOA needs something. Its been about 5 years and the only thing new was the Unicorn coaster and the X-Men tea-cup type ride.

Does anyone know how long it was after Disneyland opened in 55', the company moved to add a major attraction?

Hey, I'm new to they posting here but have been reading for a while, just a few questions?

Seems most people dislike Screamscape, I am just wondering why

Also do you see anything new coming to CityWalk?

Screamscape is a "rumors" site, and much of what is written is "fanboy" creations....more dreaming than fact.

I doubt anything major will be coming to Citywalk any time soon.....it is pretty much built out.

I don't think Screamscape is a bad as many people play it out to be. If you look at the site as more then rumor on majority of the subjects, then yes you will be disappointed. I think the site makes as honest effort as it can with dealing with rumors. On some issues screamscape has turned out to be right. The reality no one knows for sure what a park is doing, unless you are in the know because you work there.

Does city walk have any room to expand and do they need to expand?

I do believe there is a space between Pat O'Brien's and "the groove" that could hold a new restaurant or something of the stort....and then they could always remove Pastamore and Motown Cafe, which are terrible, IMO.

What they should do is bring in a Dave and Buster's....it would do great business at CityWalk.

Citywalk was supposed to have a Gameworks, but that never came to be. XS at point Orlando has never really been a success either.

When DisneyQuest first opened, it had a similar pricing strategy at D&B does, but that was not popular at all, so the pay-one-price came to be.

I read an article once that interviewed the head of D&B...he said if they were to build in Orlando, it would be in the northern suburbs.....they would be too hidden in the attractions area, there is too much competition already.

Wasn't that at USH? I believe that is the show WaterWorld replaced....
Nope, USF used to have the Dynamite Nights Stunt Show Spectacular that had a very "Miami Vice" feel to it. It wasn't too bad.

For CityWalk, I want a little pyro barge for some low-level fireworks. They have a stadium seating formation set for it already. They can build a stage about ten feet out into the lagoon, and have the barge behind that. Have shows at 9-10 and 12 o'clock as a Goodnight Orlando-type show with some rock music and live singing. A story-line isn't nessecary, due to the small size of the lagoon and stage. A little ten-minute show at night would be a great way to end the evening for the guests. (It can't use A LOT of pyro because of the close proximity to Hard Rock Hotel.

It a fantastic idea, but what would the "neighbors" say about it....I mean, Hulk and DD are already closed early during HHN....

That's why they would be low level ones. Even better would be a water screen with LASERS!

Lasers would be awesome.... :D

They could have scenes from classic Universal films playing on the water screens as well, all set to a fantastic score....it could be like a mini-Illuminations.

Exactly... a mini-Illiminations, about 15 minutes long.
