I wouldn't plan a trip around it being open then...but honestly...it is possible that soft openings will occur by at least the end of April. If it is open by then...I guarentee someone here will let us all know. But at this time, their is NO official timeline for when they will start testing it with guests.

Wow...this ride is sounding better each time I hear about it!

I have a feelin that the Indy rides are going to have some competition in what one could consider the best ride of all time...:)

Its part of the ride...specifically the Treasure Room where Imhotep offers all the riches in the world for your souls (notice the gold boxes). His face (similar to how it is seen in the sand in the Mummy movies) will be talking to you from that gray screen in the background of that pic. Of course you don't take his offer and the ride continues.

I love it! Really, I do!Many thanks to my boyfriend for getting me hooked on the show.:sohappy:

I really hope they got that musty smell out of the Kong building. It was harsh!:dazzle: :hurl:

The finishing touches on the front of the building are nearing completion. The addition of banners and text on the building stating that it is in fact, a Museum, have been added. The overflow queue and cooling mist fans (something that Disney should invest in) are also nearing completion. Finally, the wait time sign has been erected and the gift shop exterior has been completed. Not much longer now...

You should really cite where you get the pictures from. That is from IOACentral and I'm sure that David would appreciate some credit. :D

MILD SPOILER ALERT

Well, there is now a site that has the full CG concept video directly from universal creative up in zipped file form. It covers all the main scenes and layout of the scenes in the ride, with the exception of the backwards part (which I believe is after the scarab scene).

This video is probably NOT supposed to be out on the internet...so expect it to be taken down fast. I don't want to get "our" site in trouble for linking to it so I'm not going to write the actual site name as it needs to be typed. Let's just say it can be found where there is a lot of "universal-excitement".

PREPARE FOR MAJOR SPOILERS..DO NOT READ PAST THIS POINT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS IN THE RIDE

Since I realize not everyone has WinZip or similar file, here is the sequence of the ride.

Load into trains. Trains travel through an Egypitan tomb surrounded by mummies (these are the non-moving/cursed type). Suddenly you hear from the tour guide (he is apparently introduced in the pre-show/queue) warning you that "you need to get out...he's after your souls..you must find the magi symbol...its your only hope" Just then you turn the bend to see Imhotep burst out of his 'casket' and finish "wrapping" up his first victim (our tour guide) and proclaims you're next. You then procede straight into a dark room with a large face of Imhotep straight ahead of you. He offers you "all the riches in the world for your souls". Just then the room fills with light and you come face to face with a room filled with gold and other treasures. Imhotep continues reminding you that if you turn down his offer you will have to pay some consequences....(here is where what I've heard about the ride and the concept video differs...I will explain at the end). Just then Mummy warriors jump out from their hiding to surround you on both sides of the car (this is the photo that is posted above from the NYTimes). Your train then continues forward and to the right before entering another chamber. Then train stops and you begin to see scarabs crawl out of the wall and surround the walls around you (these will probably be projected CGI bugs...like what was attempted with the rats in Indy 10 years ago but never worked...but I'm not 100% sure). Just then the room goes dark and you hear screams of someone being eaten alive. (Apparently powered water jets will hit you to make you think bugs are on you too). Just then the first launch into the coaster-part takes place (max speed is 40 MPH). After Plunging you into utter darkness with "writhing souls" around the ride track you come to what appears to be the exit....using a false ending as done with Jaws, Imhotep bursts from control/monitoring room and tells you "this is only the beginning!" Just then the torches on the walls ignite and several feet above you the ceiling becomes completely engulfed in flames. After a few seconds of being subjected to what will probably be pretty hot conditions...the second launch of the coaster occurs...again plunging you into darkness surrounded by writhing souls and Imhotep faces as you speed through another coaster section. Just then the Magi Symbol is seen and the "curse" of the Mummy is over. From that concept video it looks like the ride ends with a video from Mummy star Brendan Fraser...but I've never heard of this before. The End

Now for the "difference" at the scarab scene. My understanding is that you enter the treasure room and reject Imhotep's offer. No mummies jump out at you at this time. You then enter the scarab room...room fills up...goes dark..etc. This is then where you are shot backwards into the treasure room again...this time the Mummy warriors jump out at you. I don't know if this is right or not...but I was told that the photo of the treasure room with the mummies is what you see in "reverse"...but I don't know for sure. Basically...I'm not sure when the backwards sequence is in the ride at this point.

Yeah, I refuse to watch it as it would spoil the ride to the point where it seems silly to get excited about it anymore. Pictures are one thing but a CGI ride-through is another. Can you sum up your feelings on the video in a short non-spoiler sentance?

Sure, it looks like a killer ride. Very cool from start to finish. (Mild Spoiler Ahead) A little more coaster in the dark than I expected....but this is just a concept video and may or may not have any real relation in terms of time.

Overall it looks like it will be super. I was incredibly hesitant to watch it since I usually don't like spoiling things like that....but I couldn't help myself ;) Plus, it actually got me more excited :)

I was a little disappointed after watching the video. For some reason, I thought there would be "more" to the ride. It's probably just because the video is a 1.5 year old simple animatic, though. I'll probably still be very impressed with the real thing.

So it did show the coaster portion? I thought it ended right at the launch? What about length, does the show scenes portion seem too short? Is it just one main room and that's it? Lol... with all these questions I might as well watch the video but I refuse. lol

I was wondering how long it would take for him to post that to the public. He showed me 4 months back, old news to people with insides.

Its confusing to understand, that CGI Render shows no backwards motion, hope you all enjoyed it. I sure did :)

It shows from the ride on, no queue. It seems like the length is around 2 minutes 30 seconds. Give or take. Maybe way off. But according to the CGI movie, its around 2:30. No it is not one main room. I seriously suggest not watching it if you dont want spoilers.
