Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Are students over there not continuing classes online?
They were. Although school has been out for almost a month now. Most online learning here was done on the students own pace so they could work on it at any point from anywhere. So it really wouldn’t interfere with a theme park visit.

I'm new here - how were you so wrong on Disneyland reopen timeline?
Not sure what the OPs sources were saying at the time he wrote that, but the governor of CA said this back in the end of April:

The prospect of mass gatherings is negligible at best until we get to herd immunity and we get to a vaccine,” Newsom said. “So large-scale events that bring in hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of strangers, all together across every conceivable difference, health and otherwise, is not in the cards based upon our current guidelines and current expectations.

Obviously the government decided to pull back on that stance, but it didn’t look good for Disneyland for a while there. It wasn’t all that far fetched to assume the park wouldn’t open anytime soon.

Thanks for the thorough response. I think it's safe to assume their sources on at-least that point is like most that feel the need to say "according to my sources." It also makes sense that Gavin Newsom didn't help!

What is secure circuit? I am seriously new here but want to stick to whatever the more normal side of these boards may be.

His big prediction was that only Magic Kingdom and the immediate resorts in that area would open and only guests staying at this resorts would have access to the park, in a way to kind of have a "bubble" of people who have already been screened for illnesses. Everything else would stay closed. None of it true.

Too funny! I came here trying to find news/updates and there's so much misinformation! I don't want to break my kids hearts or we'd just wait however long needed then make our next trip down.

That and versions of that were true in that at one point they were being highly considered. Pretty much everything has been considered at this point!!!

I believe it was envisioned to be baby steps in opening with a secure bubble. So, you'd open just the MK first and the only people that can get in on the ones staying at a monorail resort, who are screened at the resort. Then if that doesn't cause a superspreading event, you start adding more parks and resorts into the mix.

You should all try quoting in the future. Secure Circuit was a plan Disney had developed prior to Universal's earlier than expected total reopen. Once that occurred, Disney kept much of Secure Circuit, but moved to open as much as possible as quickly as possible. Things like temperature checks, new legal agreements, modified transportation, sanitizing systems, e.t.c, all made it in. I would say 80% made it to the final plans. People then pretend what I said months ago was common sense, but that's only in hindsight... you're free to go back and see what they were saying then.
