Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

DVC is separate from what I was discussing. DVC has to be offered whereas filling hotel rooms to non-DVC withot any parks open will be extremely difficult.
I know. They NEED to give DVC owners a place to use points. 3 months of canceled points is a big problem. They can’t add a fourth. Upshot is it should be a pleasant resort stay for owners.

I agree, Coronado is the only real option on the table.

They almost certainly don’t want other people around which would rule out any of the Deluxes because of the DVC parts of the resorts which share amenities. And even Yacht Club because of the Beach Club next door.

Indeed. Even if the parks were closed all year, DVC would presumably be open. So that eliminates Caribbean Beach. PO maybe, but I think Coronado has newer rooms, right? And if DVC was closed, then there'd be no reason to put them in a moderate at all.

Coronado also has some deluxe offerings in a sense in the tower, it’s kind of in between moderate and deluxe.

Port Orleans and CSR were refurbished basically simultaneously, although CSRs was probably more dramatic.

I'm looking forward to my Poly DVC stay during 4th of July weekend. It should be calm, peaceful and uncrowded - which is why I'm keeping it. Yes, downside is no Independence Day fireworks as I had expected 6 months ago. It will just be a different Disney vacation that what I'm use to (the whole world is different anyway). Perhaps it will be similar to my stays at Disney's Vero Beach without a theme park - very relaxing and no hustle and bustle typically at WDW property.

I wouldn't give up on Independence Day fireworks of some kind just yet...

Hmmm...maybe a small show from the usual island in Seven Seas Lagoon just for MK resorts. Hadn't thought about something like that.
🤔

Fingers crossed for something like that!

There were discussions of a live streamed show for us all. Imagine the optics of an American icon streaming Independence Day fireworks for all to see, especially since none of us will have fireworks in our towns this year. I presume those at MK resorts would find themselves in an extremely unique situation.

Fingers AND toes crossed now! Keep these suggestions up and I'll have to cross my eyes as well.

That would certainly make sense - question is, if such a thing is planned and word gets out, how would Disney do crowd control to prevent people from congregating at potential "public" viewing sites?
