Not exactly true. E:E opening at AK resulted in it passing MGM in attendance as well as some capacity closures. So the build it and they will come theory does work for thrill rides.I'm all for Disney World getting more thrill rides; but it's been proven time and time again that those are not the type of rides that "get more people to the parks."
The living in a hole thing only you would know but yes Universal did land the rights to build a Harry Potter land at IOA. Current information states that it will take over the Lost Continent section of the park. Rumor stated JK Rowling was being a major control freak over the project demanding things that granted would have been really cool but were just not practical for guest flow at a theme park. Again from what was rumored, WDI gave a very sarcastic "Aww Shucks" when Universal landed the deal.sorry, i guess ive been living in hole or something, dis Universal aquire the rights to build some sort of Harry Potter attraction, last I heard Disney was attempting to do the same thing.

Anyone have a link to this announcement?
I think this is great. At the risk of the fury of the board, Spiderman is the best, most innovative ride I've ever been on. If this guy headed up the creation of that, I'm geeked at the prospects of what he could help bring to the Mouse. I'm quite certain that Spiderman is the reason someone like him would be brought over from the enemy. I really doubt we'll be seeing huge steel arcs and loops busting through the skylines of any of the Disney parks, so I'm not expecting any Hulk-like coasters, but Disney has proven you don't really need those at their parks. Innovative thrills are likely what they're after with this new blood.
In theory, I agree spidey is great. The only issue I have is the upkeep. It usually has a lot of effects not working when I ride, and I've been stuck on it many times (can't cound them on one hand, maybe 2 hands). But yes, it's an amazing concept. As far as the kuka arm, meh, it seems cool, but not mind blowing like most people make it out to be.I agree 100% about Spiderman. It is still the most mindblowing ride ever created. And can anyone on these boards honestly say they are not excited about the new Harry Potter area and ride using the Kuka arm technology? Universal Creative has done some incredible things in the last 10 years and is easily on par with Disney IMO. One could make an argument that Spidey, Popeye's, Mummy, and Ripsaw are the best rides of their type, not to mention IOA itself is one of the most impressively detailed parks in the world. This guy is definitely Disney caliber. I am seriously excited about this. I wonder if it is too late for him to get involved with the Space Mountain refurb? :drevil:

Hopefully he wasn't responsible for Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. I can't express how much I dislike this ride. It is the poor mans poor mans Splash Mountain.

Agreed for Spidey. As for the Kuka arm, it just limits the amount of riders more than any other Disney attraction, even more than Mission Space and RnR. And the biggest funder of a Disney Vacation is a family with children, so the Kuka Arm isn't necessarily going to be a great source of revenue if it were to be on a Disney Property.meh? You realize that the arm will move along a coaster-like track and is basically capable of moving people in any direction while on that track. That could make for an amazing broom flying sequence. Add to that effects, screens, who knows...there is a TON of potential with that ride.
As for Spidey breaking down, Disney's operations are far, far superior to Universals, so getting this guy's creative talent with Disney's operations seems like a perfect combination. My only point was that based purely on design Universal rides are just as impressive as anything Disney as done.
Agreed. Excited to see what comes of this.I sincerely doubt they set out to make "the next Splash Mountain" when they built Ripsaw Falls... It is what it is.. a fun log ride.
PS this guy is obviously a genius and I think it's great he joined WDI. Hopefully his talent won't be wasted at Disney as it was for the last who knows how long at Universal.
