are you allowed to bring umbrella into the parks? I heard from some that you're allowed and some say no.

what works best when it rains/pours? Trying to limit the amount of stuff I have to carry with me when inside the park.

We've seen many people with umbrellas at the parks, but if you've ever been hit by one you would think twice about bringing one.

We usually use ponchos, they fold up small enough to be carried in a drawstring backpack.

Umbrellas in Florida are kind of useless. LOL It rains sideways most of the time so with an umbrella one side of ya gets soaked anyway! <g> Opt for the ponchos in a heavy rain.

Thanks for the advise, ponchos it is. I've thought about it, but with the Florida heat, thought it would be really sticky in a poncho, when you're sweating.

You won't have it on long. Just to get to the next ride at most and when you come out of that one the sun will be shining! If it is just a light rain we just go without. You dry in seconds. <g>

You can buy ponchos for .86 at Walmart - I buy enough to cover two - three days so I can just take them off when the rain stops and throw them away. This is much easier than buying the expensive ones at WDW and feeling like you have to hang on to the wet things all day! Hope this helps! :)

Yes the last time I was forced into a poncho was EPCOT 5/2006. I sweat under the poncho and was generally annoyed. But I was dry so it did what it was supposed to do. Other than sweating I was dry.

My point is don't bring umbrellas. Did I make my point? I think I just convinced myself not to bring a poncho either...

Bring neither...the rain doesn't last long usually and it's not acid :lookaroun...if we can go on Kali and Splash, then we don't need ponchos or umbrellas :lookaroun

Man...quite a few umbrella haters. IMHO ponchos are the devil pure and simple. They will keep your body dry and then drain all that water into your shoes. That might not be much of a big deal if you are wearing crocs or flip flops but with tennis shoes and socks it is absolutely miserable and prolonged wet feet can actually cause your skin to tear. The solution is a compact umbrella. We have one for each member of the family and they are about 8" long and maybe an inch in diameter. By comparison they are about 1/3 the diameter and about the same length as the bottles of water sold at the parks. You can buy these umbrellas at Wal-Mart for under $8. Also if you do not want to carry an umbrella they sell a slightly longer version at the parks for only $10.01 with tax. It even has Mickey mouse printed on it which IMHO is worth the extra $2.

So my advice...if it rains duck into a store and buy umbrellas.
