Since a bunch of folks have thier own regular updates, I thought I'd post mine, but with a twist. Small things in Transportation that no one would really care about. LOL
First thing - Driving down World Drive today under the water bridge, and I saw a strange boat crossing the channel. What kind of boat was it? An Animal Kingdom Discovery River Boat! I have NO CLUE as to why it was in Bay Lake/Seven Seas... *shrug* They could very well be trying it out to increase capacity on the PO/GF route. I didn't see it in operation with guests though.
Secondly - Construction has begun at the Magic Kingdom bus stops. The center loop is finally getting repaved. (South loop and North loops soon to follow) Construction will continue through the rest of the year. Delays should be minimal, if any. However, expect load zones to change as needed.
Third - Disney seems to be fed up with the mechanical problems on our new Nova LFS low floor buses. Major design flaws are causing serious (and expensive) problems to many parts of the bus. There are a bunch of rumors going around. Some say we're getting a test bus from China in. However, through a few official sources, combined with a few rumors, my guess is that we're getting a VanHool A330 from AC Transit in California. Possibly even the AG330. We'll see. We also had a New Flyer D40i Invero last year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a NABI coming around, either.
Forth - We've found that our 20 year old RTS buses seem to be more reliable than the brand new Nova LFS low floor buses. The only thing wrong with the older RTS buses is that the interiors are old, and falling apart. So, we've started to rehab the interiors of some buses. 2734 is the first bus, and WOW it looks great. New seats, flooring, walls, ceiling, etc. The only thing that wasn't updated was the windows. (In order to replace the hazy lucite windows with something clearer, it would require a full rebuild of the bus framework)
Fifth - LYNX has added a Mission: Space bus to thier fleet. Bus 328 was given an attractive Mission: Space wrap, and will be driving along the 50 & 56 routes promoting the new attraction. When I have my camera with me, I shall take a picture. (I'm sure Orlando Bus Ltd and Mears will soon get simmilar wraps)
Sixth - Routes are constantly being modified in hopes to provide better service. Currently, the All-Star Movies has been split from Sports & Music at the Studios, Downtown Disney, and Animal Kingdom during select evening hours. Look for upcoming changes to MK and Epcot resort area routing.
More useless information to come as I get it!
