If you want something special, I would suggest considering the Wild Africa Trek at AK. It is very pricey, too. But it is quite a unique experience and I think if you want to splurge on something during your honeymoon, this would be very nice. You also get a DVD with all the pictures the CMs take (of the animals and of you) afterwards which might be a nice souvenir. We had a wonderful experience, but were lucky to have a CM friend who came along, so we got it at a heavy discount.

Thanks! I actually booked that yesterday  Someone really has to stop me, because I keep looking for more "special" things to do on this honeymoon (and for the wedding - you don't want to know how much it costs to add Mickey Mouse to your cake cutting!). The cheap passholder who travels with just a carryon is becoming the person with two suitcases, multiple tours and other ridiculous spending.

Someone help me, lol.

My son and I are doing the Wild Africa Trek this summer for my birthday, looking forward to it very much. We decided last year to plan one tour each summer trip, I did the train tour at MK (great tour if you enjoy trains) and my son did the Wild by Design at AK while my wife I spent a little quiet time exploring AK. We did a quick family tour at MK that was interesting and fun but designed for newbies to the parks, our group had three families (ironically all from BWI or YC/BC that were DVC members except us) that had vast experience with WDW but never took a tour.

I'm not sure if most of you all are just cheap or just get your kicks by putting down anything WDW comes up with?

This is a VIP tour, if it was ment for everyone it would be a free upgrade on a base ticket. I don't see it as a money grab especially if you are going during a peak season. Give me a day of this to hit 10 of the best rides at WDW, a lunch and transportation to each park so the rest of my trip I can relax and just stroll along and I'm golden.

I realize this isn't for everyone which is fine, it's not suppose to be but for you all to just jump out and say its a money grab and a waste of money for everyone is pretty immature IMO.

I don't consider it a cash grab. We had a VIP tour guide at Disneyland once and they were great worth the price if you have one day and the money. I would do it. It's not the same as a FP you are going right on the ride. It says up to 10 people so I could see you combined with another family. The tour guide we had was like a long lost family member and knowledgable giving us tidbits about the rides and parks. My little cousins adored her. Sometimes she would take our orders and our cash and get everyone drinks and be waiting for us at the exit. My little sister still keeps in touch with her.

LOL, ever think of a nice couples massage at Senses?
Richard Petty Driving Experience?
Renting a boat or para-sailing at the Contemporary?

Thanks! We were going to do Petty because my fiancé is a big car guy, but we decided against it.

We're going to go tubing at the Contemporary - I've never done that before, so I'm looking forward to it :)

Our reception is actually a private Illuminations dessert party - I am super pumped for that one.

I actually just looked into the spa thing over the weekend, but I'm seriously trying to stop myself - we'll see how successful that is!

Sorry for the thread hijacking, guys - I promise, I'm done :D

I'm doing the vip tour at Disneyland in February. Is there anything anyone can recommend. I heard it is rare but possible you might get into club 33...never hurts to ask. Company expense, we are going to Nafam..so company is paying for the tour.

You're thinking of the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour, in which you do get to see Club 33 and Walt Disney's personal apartment. I've never heard any negative reviews.

Speaking of Club 33 and new tours, California Adventure is debuting a new tour, where you get to see Club 1901's lounge. Might want to look into that, if you're interested.

But it skips Epcot... They couldn't add an hour and take people to Epcot too?

BTW, yes, I am cheap! Very cheap! :D

They could sell a ton of these for $300. With a 15% discount and no entry ticket required it would be a great deal for those with an extra day in the area. They should try a limited trial because I think it could be popular. Oh well. Looks like 2017 after all.

Right! And don't try to bog down your vacation with too much or it may be overwhelming for you and/or him. Especially if he's thinking it's going to be a relaxing day at the parks and you whomp him last minute with an itinerary, LOL

So you are paying $300 (plus cost of park hopper) for what, the ability to hit Headliners w/o waiting, transportation, & a meal at whispering canyon cafe?

No offense but give me a one day hopper ticket, fp+, and EMH and I could probably achieve this for less, not in 7 hours but in one day.

They should have atleast drop the price for the Young Families tours... $300 per person... $1200 for a family of four plus they need to add in the cost of a park hopper per person?!?!
Most of those family rides are walk on in the morning and right before park closing except PP, TSMM...

It is a money grab. Period.

They could have at least offered to end it with special viewing for the fireworks/parade of your choice or something..

I agree. If I didn't want to take in atmosphere at the park and just hit the rides quickly, bet I could come close to hitting everything without that price. Hopefully for those who do this will get a ton of behind the scenes information.

I love how quickly the boards are flaming this as nothing more than a cash grab, and these were announced just a few hours ago. My first thought was that this could be developed as something really cool. Nobody has any idea what the script will be for this, let alone what the itinerary will be, other than what rides you get on. And you get a lunch. That's it.

For all we know at this point, you may get behind the scenes access, interaction with the CMs, some history about the rides, and I would guess some pretty decent access to some backstage areas. I haven't seen anything about how large the groups would be. If it's only 10, with a guide, I would imagine that this could be a very immersive program. This could be something similar to Keys to the Kingdom. Granted, it may not. It may just be a "get off the bus, get on the ride, get on the bus" show. I am hopeful that it's not of course. My point is....it's too early to tell right now. I'm reserving judgment until more details come out.

A money grab would be "Hey Vinymlations are really popular, let's more than double the price". This is just adding another tier to their already provided VIP tours. Now instead of having to just rent a guide by the hour for gobs of money by the end of the day, now you can get a quicker to the point version. Majority of people don't have the knowledge that those of us do about how to do what is in this tour with just utilizing hopper, FP+ and EMH and the park maps in our heads.

This is still considered a tour because you are "guided" to each attraction and allowed in ways other people don't get to enter the rides. Plus your meal space is reserved ahead of time. They call it a thrill tour as opposed to an informative tour like Keys.

Some people can only afford to stay at the Holiday Inn and a couple day passes, some people can afford the Grand Floridian with the Platinum Package and VIP tour. Just because Disney comes up with something else expensive doesn't mean they are "Letting other people down." They aren't obligated to to price tours for everyone otherwise they would need triple the VIP cast hours and then it wouldn't be very "VIP" feeling would it.

As someone else has discovered, if you want Mickey you're going to pay. If you get a cast member at your side, you're going to pay. The mark-up is not for the meal or the FPs.

It's odd they don't at least handle this like Backstage Magic and let you decide after if you want to pay to stay in parks but that's the only oddity I find.

So, let me get this straight. If a family of 4 wanted to do this for just one day they would spend $300, plus park admission $100 Plus a park hopper $50 (not exact numbers) = $450 a person almost 2 grand for one day. I can think of better ways of spending 2 grand. If they were already on vacation they would only have to take on an additional $1200 for the tour. But, that would make a great room upgrade. But people who can afford this are probably already in the best room possible. Remember that movie Brewster's Millions, he should have just gone to WDW.

I'm going to focus on the families one. So with the ticket and taxes, it's around or over $500 per person.

You get the following with no or a very limited wait:
  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin - seventh
  • “it’s a small word” - eighth
  • Peter Pan’s Flight - Make this the first ride
  • Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid - Make this the second ride
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant - Make this the third ride
  • The Barnstormer - Make this the fourth ride
  • Tomorrowland Speedway - fifth
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin - sixth
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Disney Junior Live on Stage
  • Festival of the Lion King (fourth Fastpass)
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
Get to the park early in the morning. Go on all the Magic Kingdom stuff in 2-3 hours. Park hop to DHS where fast passes are booked and customized for GMR, Playhouse Disney, and Toy Story Mania. Then park hop to Animal Kindom and see Festival of the Lion King. Bam. Less than $200 vs. $500ish.

Even better, just go in September.

Or it's the truth. Disney can grab all the cash they want and good for them when people pay it, but it is what it is. No need to get worked up about it.

OK, wow, if that is true then it is a cash grab. Don't do it people! You're being ripped off.

Charging more for what's already there..what was the Blue Ocean thing again? (And yes Express Pass for $$ without a resort stay is as well) It should be a time saver to "hit the highlights" but man are you paying $$$$ for it!
