Turnstile/Entrance Construction at all 4 parks

It has been discussed in pieces prior, but construction is happening at all 4 parks in the turnstile area.

I talked to a CM at Epcot last night (Epcot has the entire area left of the exit that is boarded up).

He stated the following:

They are expecting record crowds next year, and need to add capacity to the entrance, they want to keep lines short, especially at Epcot where the security check is at the turnstile.

The turnstiles will be very different, they are adding more to the current machine, it will be very different.

Epcot is trying out "Express entrance" lanes for people without bags (since the security check point is at the turnstile)

anyone know anything else?

The MK's construction walls are located in the middle of the existing turnstiles. Epcot's are between the ticket booths. MGM also has construction walls between ticket booths. I haven't been able to go to see AK's wall situation.

The TTC has construction walls between the ticket booths and the Tram Queues. Obviously, there are no turnstiles located there. Is this something unrelated?

Yes.. theyre building more turnstiles. They are definetly not Metal Detectors, those havent left the drawing board yet, from what ive heard.

.... And your song and Dance sounds a bit different than what i heard.

AK's and MGM's are at the ticket window....Epcot's is at the turnstiles (not the ticket windows, enless it is at both), MK's is between the two sets of turnstiles.

I hope they are not removing the flower bed in front of MK to put turnstiles in. The wall is around the flower bed...

Considering the park could be seeing 3 million more guests than it is this year (if it reaches 1997 levels) they would need to provide entrance to 8000+ more people per day. If anything, the park could be adding either more turnstiles, or a "center exit" similar to that at Epcot. Either way, the current setup needs to be improved.

Though there may be some truth to the rumour that this is an upgrade to first line defences at that mini gun positions will be built into each unit to provide the parks with a more robust defensive line should the silos at MK the command and control centre at epcot or the suburban army men at MGM come under attack.

Butif any one asks I didnt tell you. :lookaroun

I'll try this in English, once more, just for clairty's sake.

The metal detector idea has not gotten off the drawing board. They havent gotten it to work according to my sources.

Also, we've got some new ticketing procedures comming in January 2nd, and i would not be surprised if one has to do with the other.

And remember what happened last spring was a feasibility study, to see if it was possible and if they would work. Thats all it was... feasibility. Now if you want to continue screaming that the sky is falling, just remember that management will probably confuse that with enthusiasm for next year's 'Chicken Little' release.

I wonder if the new ticket passes coming out are going to be dramatically different that they need to change the machinery mechanism? The only thing that may possibly be different is a barcode to scan on the ticket as opposed to a magnetic strip on the back of the card. MGM's wall location doesn't seem to support the theory of additional turnstiles as there are already turnstiles behind the wall. Magic Kingdom's wall location may possible suggest additional turnstiles or an exit area. I don't recall where Epcot's and AK's walls were.

Is there any possible truth to electronic ticket machines similar to Universal's? That may explain walls at the TTC and at the ticket windows at MGM.

No pics... as far as I know we are adding more turnstiles and another feature to help make ticket purchasing easier. The flower bed seems to be bye bye for now, you can look down into it from the monorail
