TTA Changes Name

What if, get this... you were actually able to disembark at certain points? Expanding the PeopleMover would be cheaper than expanding the monorail! In DL, the monorail actually drops guests inside the park- how about the PeopleMover being that vehicle in WDW- expand it so it goes beyond the berm, with a station at the Contemporary, and possibly Wilderness Lodge also, since this MK resort is not on the monorail (boat launch service only). Imagine the popularity of THAT attraction- a way to see MORE of WDW from the comfort of your very own PeopleMover car- or better yet- you choose your own route- circle tour, to Contemporary, to WL, to TTC... Make it an actual transportation system.

Heck- One could even be added inexpensively and quickly at Epcot- In fact, this could replace a proposed resort wide light rail system. This is, afterall, the original plan for the PeopleMover...

Well at least they are going to reflect the narration changes in the actual ride... To be honest, the TTA name by itself didn't make sense. In the old narration, they called it the Metroliner. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover works fine.
Good point. TTA sounds like it refers to the organization that sponsors the transport, not the mode of transportation itself. For all we know, the TTA could sponsor several modes of transportation, with the PeopleMover being one of them.

Change for the sake of change is a good thing........

All I'm saying is why out of all the things they could've spent money on at WDW, they had to put it to this? The TTA is probably one of the things at WDW that needed change the least. There are countless other things they could've spent that money on that needed it more.

I love the idea of the PeopleMover becoming an actual transportation system as opposed to just a ride, but I think that the Contemporary is about as far as it could go, and even that may be stretching it. In the original concept for the Florida property, the PeopleMover would have taken care of rapid transit duties inside the city of EPCOT, while Monorails would traverse the longer distances between the city, the Magic Kingdom, and the resorts.

One of the pre-EPCOT Center World Showcase concepts had it being built near the TTC, with the PeopleMover going through the various country pavilions. However, there were never any plans to connect the World Showcase PeopleMover with the one in Tomorrowland.

It would have been nice to incorporate the PeopleMover into EPCOT Center as a way to get around there, since it's such a huge park, but it would be impossible to shoehorn it in there now, even if they wanted to do it.

The first time I rode it was in 1992 when it was called the WEDway Peoplemover. And for some reason, we just called it the Weed Whacker. Don't have a clue why. But, we still ride it everytime we go, and we still call it the Weed Whacker. No matter what the real name is.

Well, they are half way there.

I don't understand what is so offensive about using the word WEDway?

Especially right next to CoP. One would think this would bring Tomorrowland closer to a unified theme of Walt's tomorrow.

Why would there be a limit to the distance? As far as shoehorning it in, if it's kept as an elevated system, it would be a simple addition. There really isn't the weight constraints that the monorail would carry. BGM and interesting facts about WDW/MK/Epcot along the way would be nice too. AND- it can releive some of the need for busses.
