True Love Conquers All - Disney Fairytale Wedding & Disneymoon Sept 2011

I wake up every morning wondering if it was a dream. It was my dream come true – I got married at the Wedding Pavilion in Walt Disney World. I married my best friend who shares my love for Walt Disney and his legacy. I am just the luckiest girl in the world!

How It All Began

My name is Shelley and like many little girls, I always dreamed of being a princess. Here’s a picture of 15 year old me donning the Bride ears back in 1996. I love this picture for so many reasons but I mainly miss the 2 floor Centorium. I like Mouse Gear but I miss my Centorium :(

When I was in my mid 20’s I became jaded towards love. One night in September 2006, I went out with some of my girlfriends for a girls’ night out. I remember telling them that I just wanted to meet a nice guy who liked Disney. Yep, those were my criteria: nice guy, likes Disney. We proceeded to our favorite bar and it was still a bit early so the bar wasn’t very full. While I was ordering drinks, a guy came up and started talking to us. The funny thing was, he was all by himself! It’s not every day that a guy has the guts to walk up to a group of girls and just start talking. At first I ignored him thinking he was just another jerk. But then he spotted my Kingdom Hearts cigarette case and matching lighter. (Kingdom Hearts is a video game series, sorry – it is the best video game series to grace God’s green earth. If you love Disney and video games, you must play this series.) I remember the face he made at me, like he couldn’t believe we were meeting. He also loved the Kingdom Hearts series and his name was Jason. I remember so much of that night because it changed my life forever. We talked about everything Disney and he told me that his favorite Disney movie was The Sword in the Stone. I found that very interesting because that is not a well-known animated classic. I told him I had a cat and that I had named her after a character in Aristocats. After a few guesses, he said “Oh I know, so you named her Duchess?” (RIP Duchess, we lost her this past June  ). I couldn’t believe I had met my nice guy who liked Disney. I don’t think we ever really dated; we were always in a serious relationship from that point forward.

In 2009 we went on our very first Disney World trip together with my Mom (see the trip report here). At this time, my career was not going well and neither of us had been to Disney World since 2003. This trip changed our lives forever and both of us have made major career strides since then. I have also lost a ton of weight since then :D Let’s take a stroll down memory lane…

We went back a little over a year later in September 2010 (see the trip report here). On my 29-and-12-month birthday, Jason proposed to me while we were flying over London on Peter Pan’s Flight during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, September 21, 2010. I loved his proposal, it was absolutely perfect!

Awwwwww...it's over?!?! I can relate, tho. At the end of our 2 week September trip I really was ready to sleep in my bed. Loved that your last day was all meet-ups. It is fun to meet online friends in the flesh. Loved the WDWMagic girls trio shot. It's a sign of the greatness to come on our cruise next year! WooHooooo!!!!

Thanks for such an amazing read from proposal report to planning journal all the way through your awesome weddingmoon report. Loved it all to pieces! Here's to living happily ever after every now and then....

Yes now the TR is over and there's only one wedding-related thing left to do - go on the Inside Disney Weddings podcast again to talk about the wedding! I'll be sure to post when we will be on :)

Meeting my online friends was especially awesome this trip because we got to talk to people who live in FL about our move in April. We got some really good info and now we have friends to hang out with!

Oh man I would be ready to go home after 2 weeks too. We totally exhausted ourselves at the beginning of the trip and it was so nice to relax at SSR during our Disneymoon :)

I am so glad we got to meet so many of my online friends, we had a lot of fun with them! It's great that we all share in a Disney obsession and I haven't met anyone from the forums or twitter who is weird in real life. For now, our online community is safe and I hope it stays that way!

Thanks for reading the entire story, it makes me feel so great that people who were complete strangers are now my friends because of my TRs :) I can't wait to meet you, we'll have to meet up on your next trip! :sohappy:

Ooooh... That's right! You'll be a local next go around! Think you'd want to swing out to Cocoa Beach / Port Canaveral? No WDW plans for us until maybe late 2013 or 2014. We're California bound this year, have cruises booked thru 2013, and the brother-in-law is trying to do a big family reunion cruise (non-Disney) for Thanksgiving or Christmas 2013. Unless that winning powerball ticket comes thru it looks like vacation funds are all spoken for. :)

Thanks for sharing your great wedding & Disneymoon.
Your portrait pics are fantastic and I love your idea of hanging a flat screen on the wall to show them...because you are SO right in that you cannot choose just 2 or 3 to print!

Best of luck living so close to the Mouse, I am jealous!

Looking forward to many more reports!

In October 2010, I got the ball rolling with planning our Disney Fairytale Wedding. You can read about our entire planning process in my planning journal. There was no other venue for me besides the Wedding Pavilion and I am so glad it worked out that we were married there! In March 2011, we were interviewed by Inside Disney Weddings. We will probably be interviewed again before I’m finished writing this trip report. I can’t wait to tell them how it all turned out, it was perfect!

Our next trip would be in May 2011 for Star Wars Weekends and wedding planning! We were so excited, it was finally happening!

Let the Memories Begin!

I cannot wait to share all of our magical memories with you! This trip was filled with the kindness of strangers, guests applauding us as we walked around the property in our wedding attire, magical mousekeeping surprises, and our favorite – we had the chance to meet many of my forum and twitter friends!!

We are still waiting for our professional photos from Disney Photography but they handed us our wedding video at the end of our reception. I posted it on YouTube the day we got back :D Enjoy!

Wow it sounds like you have some great trips planned! I can't wait to hear about California, I went out there last year (not Disneyland) and loved it!

Thanks for reading! Not a day has gone by where I haven't looked at our portraits :) I have a small digital frame on my desk but I do want the big one for the wall!

Even after I relocate, I'll still write trip reports because people will come to visit me! My family is already talking about staying with us next Christmas :sohappy:

Sunday was the best day :)

I posted my super humungo long comment on your blog haha

It was the best day! So many new friends, too bad we didn't get to talk to Steve Barrett :( And thanks again for reading my super long TR on my blog!

Haha I love my social media :) I'm so happy you enjoyed my entire story and thanks again for your support in my planning journal. Looking back I'm so glad to have my memories but I'm also glad it's over. That was a stressful time!

The next few months are going to be stressful but in a good way. I have a lot of work to do both in my career and for our move to Orlando! I'm going to be so happy when we pull into our new driveway for the first time though :sohappy: Work hard, play hard!!

I am so in love with this TR! Thanks so much for sharing it all with us!

I've been reading it so long, I don't even remember half of what I wanted to comment on! I swear I started sometime in late November and I'm only through the reception! :D I LOVED your wedding ceremony and your reception looked like so much fun! So cool that they gave you your video right away! Did you watch it that night? I totally would have! Ha!

You looked amazing. Seems like you have such a great family too! I loved the White Christmas reference. One of my all time favorite movies, and that 'Sisters' song is a favorite too!

I wish I could read more tonight but I have to get some sleep. Maybe I'll have this finished by May? :D

Aww thank you so much :) It was my pleasure writing it. Now my entire trip is memorialized on the interwebs!

I agree about the wedding video, it was so cool to get it at the end of the reception! We went back to our room and watched it right after the reception. I also watched it again after our Illuminations Dessert Party that night :) And then every day of our honeymoon...LOL.

Wow. Just wow. I finished reading and just so much to take in from the Illuminations Dessert party to the last day of your trip! :D

Everyone has said it, but it bears repeating: Your bridal portraits = amazing.

I loved hearing how you had some days to just relax. Kind of weird to think that we'll no longer be able to just 'cancel' our reservations anymore isn't it? To think you would have had to haul yourself all the way to the MK for breakfast at The Crystal Palace, when all you wanted to do was take a walk to DTD. I thought I liked the new rules, but it seems sad when I think of it that way. :( Thanks for the review of the spa! I've not seen many reviews of that one!

I am also amazed at how many people you met! I saw Holly at AK once, but was too scared to call out her name....... I mean, what do you say if you're wrong? "I'm so sorry, I thought you were my interweb free-and?":lol::lol: But next time, if I think I see someone, I'm going to go for it no matter what. :D

I do have to say though, that these meet and greets take dedication to Disney to a whole new level. I thought I was a Disney nerd. I guess the bar is a little higher than I thought! I've never even heard of half of those sights/ people. Gah! So much work to do, so little time. :animwink:

Oh! And I just remembered - I think it is beyond cool that someone who worked with the designer recognized your dress! That's so awesome. A real life "Who are you wearing?" moment! More magic on an already magical trip.

Thank you so much again for this wonderful report.

Thank you and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I agree about the new ADR cancellation system. For our next trip, I only booked one! We are going to be pretty busy house hunting though :)

I thought I was a big Disney nerd too and then I started going to meets! Some of the people take it to a whole other level than I do :) They're great! You should always go up to people you recognize, there's a reason we put up pictures from our trips for all to see!
