I stopped posting on MiceChat because about half of the comments made me feel dumber for having read them.

I ended up asking for the account removal myself, because of the high amount of negative votes I received from various posts. People don't appreciate going against the grain, it seems. Buncha lemmings!

Anyway, back on topic, as people have stated - it's no Tahitian Terrace, but better than what's presently there. The only time I ever saw a show was during the Indiana Jones overlay and was not amused. I do hope there's more going on than just an open space - I really would have gone often if the ol Terrace was revived, but don't think that was ever a realistic expectation given that nothing comes back from the dead.

I'm of the belief that the Trader Sam's Diamond Luau during the 60th was in part testing the waters as to whether more Polynesia would be welcomed back at Disneyland. Needless to say it was a massive hit and run very very well (certainly miles better than either Mahaloween events). When the permit was posted outside Aladdin, the hopes were high and the signs were good that something was coming.

From MiceChat:

"“Welcome to our Tropical Hideaway you lucky people you” . . . Aladdin’s Oasis in Adventureland is about to get a tiki revival. But don’t get too excited. While this update will make better use of the nearly derelict food service location, it won’t be the full-service restaurant and show as we had hoped for. This isn’t Tahitian Terrace. What the Tropical Hideaway will be is a market area with seating. A place to grab a snack and relax. Better than nothing and helps create an out of the way nook in the otherwise crowded Adventureland."

I gotta say, as much of a fan of tiki culture that I am, it's a shame that this fine Arabian architecture is going to be torn down. Why the heck didn't they just remove the stage/wall to expose the jungle cruise?

From MousePlanet:

"Last week Disneyland finally confirmed that a new location known as the Tropical Hideaway will open in Adventureland later this year, taking over the former Aladdin's Oasis spot. From the very small piece of concept art shared on the Disney Parks Blog, it appears that the former Cave of Wonders stage will be demolished, opening the oasis directly onto the Jungle Cruise.

From the updated building permit filed by Disney, we learned that the new outdoor dining area will be 4,315 square feet, and will include a new 8-foot-high rock work water feature, which is possibly the entry fountain shown in the concept art."

I know this will sound mean, but strollers are at the top of my list of most annoying things at a Disney park.
I think the obnoxious monster strollers with seats for four eight year olds should be banded from the park. These people have no clue how to do Disneyland. If you need a stroller, bring a lightweight cheap umbrella stroller. It's easier to get on/off the tram and cheap enough that you don't care if it is stolen.

 Horrible. This is the type of parent I've encountered numerous times late in the evening way past kiddie bedtime whose enormous stroller is stuck in a mass of people trying to exit after a parade, fireworks, Fantasmic!, or some other nighttime spectacle. Better he's in front of you than behind otherwise there's a good chance he'll navigate his mobile nursery into your Achilles tendon. From my experience the kids are usually dead asleep because they've been crying and screaming all day from summer heat, over-stimulation, and sheer exhaustion. BTW, screaming kids/babies are number 2 on my list of annoying things at a Disney park.

Ha.. you think you hate 'em? It's even worse when you're the one pushing one around! They are a major PITA. Between dealing with the tram, navigating crowds, stroller parking, constant unloading/loading, trying to carry food back to a table, etc. They really are awful, but unfortunately necessary if you're a parent who loves visiting Disneyland like me. Selfishly, while I do love bringing my kids to the park (can't exactly leave 'em at home), you're totally limited in what you can do unless you do ride swaps or come with people who can watch them. Not to mention, for the first few years of their life they don't even realize what the heck they're looking at and will never remember any of it!

If only there was a way to bypass the infant/toddler stage.... I still have faith science will find a way!!!

I have this one minus the middle seat... it's pretty awesome if you have an infant and a slightly older kid who is fully capable of walking but will eventually tire out (plus they can only walk so fast on those little legs!) Huge pain to close up and get on the tram, but better than those giganatic double wide strollers which end up mowing people down.
