Just wrote this ride today for the first time. Absolutely loved the ride, we got the second to last row of lightcycles. As someone who was definitely worried about this ride’s intensity it was extremely fun.

The initial preshow room was a well executed effect. The launch room while you are on the top as the lightcycle’s launch was awesome I wish it was a longer room though as you walk by quickly.

The lightcycles themselves I believe are what make this ride special. The awkward position they put you in help the ride feel more intense. The back restraints lowered onto your back are identity discs and react with the other lights on the lightcycle.

The launch took me aback of how fast it felt and I immediately felt it when it started. Once you get into the building while short it was satisfying. I never felt the length of the ride was a negative. This is mostly because once you enter the gravity building you move pretty quick thoughout the scenes (besides one or two brake runs). Daft Punk’s score as well as some new remixes really work for this ride’s soundtrack. The scenes in the gravity building involve some cool tricks with mirror’s and screens. The identity discs on your back also react to some of the Lightcycle movements.

I am a big fan of the concept of these new Disney coasters when you are launched to the top of the building and get to see the gravity building below you. We also rode Guardians again today and it had a similar effect. I am also a big fan of the IP so that definitely helped the IP as well.

It’s worth noting that we rode this as the park opened, we were not able to see this ride’s nighttime lighting.

Overall, I am not sure if TRON is a better coaster then Guardians as I like the unqiue aspects and layout of Guardians but TRON is a very close second. I would like to ride TRON once again to pick up on more details.

💯

As someone who has ridden at night (first) then morning, there really is no appreciable difference in the brief time spent outside under the canopy. (BTW the lights are always on, your eyes have difficulty discerning them in daylight.)

Guardians is pants. This is good, but far too short.

What happened to long experiences with Disney attractions ?
I totally agree that they need to build some longer rides. And there’s certainly an argument that Tron is too short. But there’s no way that a ride this “intense” (for a Disney park) would work out beyond maybe another 30-90 seconds of coaster time.

It could be 3 hours long and he’d say it’s too short.

Yeah. He's the Russian Bot of this board. After seeing it a number of times I finally decided to look at his post history and it's all just running in to say derisive or divisive (but generally ignorant either way) things and then not respond until the next time except for a surprisingly serious discussion on the physics of farts a few dozen pages back.

I don’t know how anyone can claim Guardians is a short coaster. It’s almost as long (physically) as Incredicoaster and has a longer ride time.

TRON was short but we all thought it was great fun. That launch with such open vehicles is a trip and a half. One day I’ll ride at night.

Yeah, I'm not enthralled with Guardians (at all) but I don't see how you can call it short, at least for a roller coaster. All coasters are short if you're comparing them to elaborate dark rides. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is significantly longer, but that aside, I don't think any of the other WDW coasters are longer than Guardians (at least not by more than a few seconds).

The only thing I can think of is the fact that it replaced one of the longest (or maybe the longest?) theme park experiences around, and that they talked about it as though it was going to be more than just a coaster, so maybe people are grading it on an unfair curve?

Sure. I doubt we would see any complaints if it was built at DHS. Not that DHS needs another launching coaster.

As much as I generally complain about Disney replacing rides instead of adding -- I'd have been okay with replacing RNRC with Guardians. Or building Guardians elsewhere at DHS and replacing RNRC with some new attraction.

RNRC is due for an overhaul at the very least anyways.
