Nah, this is entirely correct - and I’ll admit, it shocked me. But GotG in Cal Adventure is a better ride, better themed, and a much better representation of the featured IP then Rewind or Tron. It’s not as good as WDW’s Tower, of course, but it’s a very impressive make-over and very clearly the second best Marvel ride in the world (a distant second, but still a strong one).
Cosmic Rewind is far and away superior to MB. In every way.

Mission Breakout is far and away superior to Cosmic Rewind. It captures the Guardians spirit from the first moment to the last, the story is actually engaging and adds to the thrill of the ride, and you feel like you’re in the vicinity of the characters. These are all things Cosmic Rewind pretty badly fails in.

For merchandise, guests are being directed through the Mainstreet bypass, then through Tomorrowland Terrace and are being placed in a line outside Stitch’s Great Escape. There seems to be two lines - one for resort guests and one for everyone else.

This is all entirely correct. It also captures an aesthetic reminiscent of the films and presents a simple but coherent story, something Rewind absolutely fails to do. What’s more, it actually features an AA!

But the take wasn't on the ride - it was on the appearance. "Better looking..."

“Reimagined” is a heck of a stretch. Those blue and orange strips are particularly cheap-looking.

The exit to Space Mountain has certainly been downgraded from the days you rode an inclined moving walkway up into an arcade.

TRON Lightcycle Run merchandise opens in former Stitch's Great Escape and Star Traders as Launch Depot is delayed

Misuse of an attraction space aside, compare this (or even the more permanent Launch Depot) with the heavily-themed temporary merchandise locations Universal regularly builds.

Disney creates plenty of highly themed stores. Look at Galaxy’s Edge or Pandora or New Fantasyland. Disliking the stylistic direction of Tomorrowland as being overly contemporary, mundane, or spartan is separate from their ability to create themed shops.

EDIT: Ohhh, I see you mean temporary shops specifically. Misread.

Oh, I'm just *completely* shocked...you mean people weren't standing in line for hours on end, paying admission to a theme park to stand in line to buy Tron merchandise to commemorate their 60-second roller coaster ride? Shocked I say, shocked!
I mean, I’d normally agree, but it wouldn’t be the first time, and it was probably a sensible precaution during a week so historically busy.
