I think a lot of people are just looking at pictures of Shanghai and assuming that's how it will look at WDW.

And sure, it will look like that if you're standing in the right place. But unlike at Shanghai, it's not the centerpiece of Tomorrowland. It's back in a corner. You probably won't be able to see it at all before you get past the Astro Orbiter.

It shows how little thought they put into the placement.
I'm not sure where else in TL they could have put it? People currently complain about the show building being seen from the monorail now, to have it the other side of Space Mountain would bring it even nearer?

Well there is that and that's fair enough. Perhaps they looked into it and there were too many obstacles?
I just want them to finish the design. My goodness this is taking a long time! Let me find the announcement…

Where should they have put it? (Serious question)

The space between Tomorrowland and Main Street, USA, approximately where the Main Street Theater was to be located, is where the attraction was initially slated to be placed way back when it was going to be co-developed by the Magic Kingdom and Shanghai Disneyland along with Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Space Mountain wasn’t just dropped into Disneyland once the decision was made to add that attraction. Space Mountain and Tomorrowland were adjusted to work together as part of a larger experience. TRON should have had it’s design adjusted to integrate into Tomorrowland, not just be a thing over there.

The obstacles were money. They were trying to add stuff quickly and cheaply. It’s the reason Ratatouille was also grabbed and dropped into a weird spot.

I think Tron’s design works well for Tomorrowland. If we need to complain about something like that we need to look at the speedway.

I imagine it was money and where it could fit vs that. That is why we are getting Tron because it is a cloned thrill ride with light theming compared to other higher risk projects.

Which is what you do on Hagrids, in the motorbike seat.

On Hagrid's:
  • You are in a regular seat designed for a humans rear end, not a banana shaped seat found on motorbikes.
  • You sit upright. Your back is up against a vertical seat-back. You are not leaning forward.
  • As you enter the bike your leg has to lift up no more than a foot high to 'straddle' whatever box-thing that is on the floor keeping your feet separated. You are not straddling a motorbike, nor a motobike seat. You can still knock your knees together, which you can't do if you're straddling a motorbike.
  • Your feet go flat onto a floor that is parallel to the ground. They are not up on pedals, nor are they tucked behind you as if you were leaning forward on a racing motorbike.
  • There is a lap bar to keep you in. That would be impossible if you straddling a motorbike.

Yep. Which isn't anywhere close to feeling like you're on an actual motorcycle...like this.

Start at 1:31 if the time-stamp doesn't work.

The riders legs are clearly sticking out behind them as they lean forward to grasp the handlebar.

This is true. At the end of the day the experience is exhilarating and similar enough to where it will be compared. Like Jaws and Jungle Cruise were both compared, but one was not even truly a boat ride.

higher risk? WDW needs attractions desperately and WDC doesn't want to invest... There is no risk...If Belle's Meet and Greet attraction can get hour plus waits daily, then it doesn't matter at this point what attraction they open... There is no risk to an original attraction other than they are not wanting to pay for it... "If You Build it They Will Come" totally fits WDW

That is more of what I meant. They are not going to not get a flop, but they did not want to spend to theme it on anything else than even the IP being cloned. Too long it has also been, if you don't build it or do the minimum, they will come anyway, hence the risk factor gone.

Why would they change the theme? Tron is awesome imo. Also I dont think the ride would have fit in the apce where the main street theater was supposed to go at all. Its not nearly big enough for the ride building

That was more of a statement to the way attraction tech is brought over and cloned completely the same more than just this situation. Hence why every single major project right now seems to be cloned and fit in the best it can be.
