Hang on.

Maelstrom was c**p and should never have been created. But FEA is terrific?

You do know it’s the same ride?
I actually think FEA is a better ride than Maelstrom. Had they demolished Maelstrom and built FEA at DHS, where it fits and which needs a water ride, I’d be a happy camper.

While I appreciate resistance to group-think, we are indeed getting a "Music Manor type ride" in Ratatouille, MMRR, and RotR.
Yes and people have complaints about all three of them.
What are the complaints about RotR?
Those are more directed at Star Wars land in general. But otherwise I suppose you got me on that one.
People have complaints about everything. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose! :)

Yep. The nostalgia pixie dust for Mr. Toad, Snow White et al skews the purist viewpoint so much that they'll be blind to attractions like the ones you mentioned. They'll never be happy, and they'll never admit that Frozen, MB (DCA), and most likely RotR and GotG (Epcot) are terrific and better than what they replaced (not in the case of RotC of course). Instead, they'll get wrapped around the faux IP argument just so they can feel relevant on (egads) an internet message board.
Ugh, you had to mention Guardians: MB.

Which is probably my favorite attraction at DCA now that they nerfed Soarin’ and Screamin’.

While I’ll miss clever, original stories like Mystic Manor and Expedition Everest, I’m not gonna knock the IP-based ones if they’re actually quality experiences. Tron is quality. Better than RnRC (slightly less thrilling, more immersive, similar length), while IncrediCoaster doesn’t cut it for me. Mine Train’s eh (especially for the hype), as is Ratatouille for me (although at least everyone can ride it, and it’s going somewhere that lacks rides).

Agreed, there are definitely some big misses with some of the new and overlayed stuff, which has the real definition of lazy written all over it (incredicoaster!). FEA wasn't a lazy reskin tho, just the wrong park.

too barren and sparse on the second level to get anything superior from me but...just an opinion. agree completely regarding location. oops sorry, please remain seated, back to Tron now.
I would agree with that completely... Seems like there was more planned top be added to the scenes that never happened.. but overall it feels more complete as a ride than Maelstrom did...

How do they compare to Universal setup? Is the locker area super cramped or is there room to get around other people who are getting in and out of the lockers? Would you say it was an organized process or chaos?

They're packed in tight. No room to move. But people in China aren't as concerned with "personal space" as in the states. Maybe they'll make some design changes for the MK. I was more bothered by the rain that could hit big areas of the lockers than the space thing.

Also, that canopy acted like a wind tunnel. In a big way. I was there in March and it was rainly and fairly chilly. I couldn't wait to get out of that locker area.

The adulation for MM is about more than just the ride system. It is about the extremely skillful integration of AAs, screens, music, and other elements and an overall sense of the classic “Disney-esque.” Rat is a screen ride and is in no meaningful way MM-esque. From all indications, RotR is akin to or perhaps even superior to MM. MMRR may or may not be in the same league, depending on the final product.

In any case, I’m excited for all three rides. What’s more, I don’t see much complaining on here about any of them, save for the boneheaded decision to tear out a classic dark ride for MMRR, which is not a knock on the potential replacement.

Mystic Manor is one of the most FUN Disney rides ever created. So much to see and take in, and everything blends together so well, just as you said. Not to mention the musical score, etc... In two days, I'm quite sure we rode it close to 10 times.
