I'm so excited for you! Please right a report!! Joe and I are wanting to take a trip to Hawaii and I don't even know where to start to try and figure out which island, resort, Aulani or not, how long, excursions? We don't plan on going until 2024 so that we can save up and not have to skimp on anything but it seems so intimidating to figure everything out. I guess if I can figure out Disney then Hawaii should be a piece of cake.
I will definitely!
I was in Hawaii years ago as a teen when my mom took my grandmother, and again when my sister and her husband were stationed in Hawaii. Because he was an officer they had a wonderful house up on a mountain up from Waikiki. I can still remember the amazing, no other phrase for it, tropical breeze, blowing through the house in the morning when she had her windows open.
We are staying at Aulani and I am really looking forward to that.
Una loves Moana (especially Maui) and Aleisha said, and I quote, "Una will lose her s**t when she sees them"! 🤣
I hope there will be character meets and greets for her.

Hi everybody! Cindy asked me to post some photos of the Princess Room (maybe called a Royal Room?) from Riverside as she hadn't heard of or seen the rooms. So here we gooooo....

I'm so sorry your plans got changed like that!! I'm so glad to know we can get to Artist point....that's one I really want to take pictures of! Was it difficult to get a reservation at Old Faithful Inn? I thought everything was booked up. Did they just cancel everyone's reservations or we're you able to snap up a reservation someone else canceled? The big things I want to see are Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, and Artist Point. I wanted to see Mammoth, but that is supposed to be closed off indefinitely. I'd be happy with any of the thermal pools really....wouldn't have to be Grand Prismatic, but I think that's the one that's easiest to get to. My son and my husband aren't hikers, so I don't think they will be willing to do the overlook.
We were supposed to stay in 3 separate lodges (Mammoth, Canyon, and Old Faithful) throughout the six nights we had originally planned. Once the park closures were announced, all of our reservations were automatically canceled. Any reservations that extended beyond the reopening were left untouched, and it was up to the individual to cancel if they wished (without penalty). As for our last minute booking at Old Faithful, I thought we got lucky...but I just checked and there is availability at all the remaining lodges and campgrounds. So, it seems that people are just choosing to cancel at this point.
You can absolutely accomplish all three of those things in a day, depending on how much time you spend at each spot. If you can't do the hike for Grand Prismatic, then absolutely do the boardwalk! Just make sure you pack your patience, as the parking is crazy crowded and a line forms on the boardwalk to make your way around the hot spring. Since we were coming up from the Tetons, we started the day with Old Faithful. It was very crowded when we were there in the morning, but when we returned to the lodge at night it was a ghost town. If you go later, the visitor center will be closed, but if that doesn't matter to you then you may consider a later visit to avoid the crowds. If you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer!
ETA - I should also note that we were traveling with a 6yo and an 8yo who probably slowed our pace a good bit :)

Hi friends!! @MickeyCB thanks so much for starting this & including me!!
I just got the chance to read through this. I’ve been so busy. Since I’m so far behind with my own TR I told myself I can’t read anyone else’s until I put a dent in mine. I promise to catch up with them soon though!!
And what planet am I on? I didn’t hear anything about Yellowstone.
Me either Patti. I need to watch the news more.

We rented DVC points for the first part of our stay and finally got to try out a Copper Creek Studio. I know how much @Nunu enjoys room pics so here ya go, my friend!

We really liked the art next to the bed.
“Badges” of all the offerings at the Wilderness Lodge.

Only one sink was a head-scratcher though.

Nice room but like you do not understand the one sink. There is enough room for two. 🤔

@Tuvalu have you rented points before? I'm wondering if that's the only way I'm ever going to able to afford staying here... I assume the points rental is cheaper than rack rate? Or I could be totally off base?
