Well that's just crazy!! They should tell guests these things! The following is a PSA for anyone considering a stay at Copper Creek Villas.
Em and I had spent a few hours at the pool. We returned to our room to discover than none of the lights worked (a real crisis since the toilet and shower were in total darkness with the door closed.) Oddly enough, the power outlets and TV worked.
I pushed the "maintenance" button on the room phone and explained the situation to the person who answered. "We'll send someone over," was the reply.
Fortunately it wasn't too long before there was a knock on our door. A maintenance CM stood in the hall with a CM in training. "What's going on?" he asked.
"None of our lights work," I said.
"Did you check the master switch?" (He shook his head knowingly at the trainee.)
"What master switch?"
He stepped towards me and pointed to a light switch behind me, nearest the room door.
For the record the switch looked EXACTLY like every other light switch in our room, with the exception of the teeny tiny printing over the switch on the right.

"Press it," he said. I did and the lights came on.
"Reedy Creek made us install the master switch when these rooms were refurbished. Copper Creek Villas are the only resort that have them," he said. "Guests get so mad when they find their lights off."
YA THINK ???!!!!!
It wasn't til after he left that my mind flooded with questions.
1. Why isn't there a notification IN THE ROOM about the master switch?
2. Why didn't the person I spoke with on the phone tell me about the master switch? (It would have saved time for us and eliminated the need for a service call.)
3. Who turned the master switch off?
Well I quickly figured out the answer to #3. It wasn't Em nor me, although it would have been easy to accidentally hit the switch on our way out of the room. Our trash had been emptied, which meant someone had been in the room for a "room check."
Each subsequent day we'd return to find that dang switch off!
You two?!What am I going to do with you.

Alright you two. Don't make me turn this thread around!I might read half of what you post![]()
I love that!!! You guys look great!
Just ewwww....and OMG!The French-speaking woman who slathered sunscreen ALL over her body (even in places where the sun don’t shine!) and then reapplied it in the same manner EVERY TWENTY MINUTES. Her contortions…..
The trailer trash family who considered the quiet pool their own private oasis by consuming multiple beers, hard ciders, pretzels, popcorn and big ol’ sandwiches IN THE WATER….while blasting country music from an iPod speaker. After being confronted by a CM reminding them that food and beverages are not allowed in the pool or on the pool edge, they (temporarily) moved their cooler to their loungers and resorted to “hiding” their beverage bottles under a towel on the pool edge whenever a CM was in the vicinity.
If you book with dates of your choice, can you modify it or will you lose your money by doing that? I was actually looking at David's yesterday thinking of next Summer. I'm torn....I want to stay in a deluxe at some point, and with the perk of extra time in the park, that really sounds good right now. BUT, you also get that at Swan and Dolphin, which are cheaper, and since Epcot is my favorite park, that would be a great location to be able to walk there. But not everything is back to normal yet, either. I'm not sure I can justify the cost when there are still things missing from the experience, since we can't go more than once every several years. I don't want to be locked into anything.I have rented from all 3 sites: David's, DVC Rental Store and DVC Rental Shop. I have been happy with the service of all of them.
Points rental is cheaper than rack rate. Bigger savings can be found when booking a Confirmed Reservation ~ one that was already booked by a DVC member (with a set date and specific resort) who is unable to make the trip. Take a look here:

DVC Rental Store is a site sponsor here so the link should work.
You cannot change/modify a Confirmed Reservation. Each company has a cancellation policy, but the bottom line is you will lose most or all of your money if you need to cancel and any "refund" will be credit towards a future rental. The same terms apply when renting points for dates/resort of your choice. You can purchase private trip insurance but that typically won't cover canceling "for any reason."
So point rental is a gamble of sorts. But you can win with significant savings (especially since Disney has cut back on room discounts.)
The downside to renting points through a company is you are locked in to the dates and resort you pick. Check out each sites’ FAQ page for their exact policy. If you book with dates of your choice, can you modify it or will you lose your money by doing that? It's Mahoosive.
That’s what they all think.I assure you that I am fully housetrained.
That’s the former original WL resort wing, right? I have trouble keeping the two parts of WL straight, and I’m a DVC member! We rented DVC points for the first part of our stay and finally got to try out a Copper Creek Studio.
You are not alone. I, too, am underwhelmed by that studio, except for the nice badge framed piece.Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't care for it, but it seems kinda barren. (The badges in the frame on the wall was nice, though.) And, no clock radio, Tuvalu!![]()

Not to sway your dates but barring another unprecedented event, Disney parks should be fully back to “normal” (or at least its “new normal”) by next summer. Most attractions/shows that were to reopen already have.
