Four years ago, we had a wedding on Hilton Head Island, and flew into Savannah. Sadly, didn’t get to experience anything other than the airport there.

@TheMouseFan now that I think of it, Hilton Head Island is also a lovely place to visit.
Although it has a tiny Disney connection, as there’s a DVC resort there, so maybe also off the list.

Hilton Head is great for bike riding, including on the beach, and we also had a fun kayaking excursion there. You can catch a tour boat for a day trip to Savannah or Daufuskie Island (have not experienced either). It's been years since we've been, but I would go back.
Georgia/Carolina/Virginia mountains are an option for a non beach vacation(waterfalls, hiking, caves).

Hey friends! Spam me with your favorite non-Disney vacation spots. Brian and I want to go somewhere this summer with the boys, but we aren't ready to do Disney or Universal without Lily yet. We aren't opposed to flying, but Brian would prefer driving. Thanks in advance.
We enjoyed Pigeon Forge last year. Dollywood is fun if you’re up for a different amusement park, but there’s also fun mountain coasters, other touristy attractions, hiking, etc.

I'll have to look into this, thanks! Anything in particular you did or somewhere you ate that you recommend?

There is a small (live) theatre in town which was fantastic (just happened that the weekend we were there, it had a revival of a show they’d decided they were putting to rest, so they were performing it one last weekend). We ate at an Italian restaurant which was rather tasty (also the server was incredibly kind to my teen who has some mental health issues and she was having a bit of an anxiety attack - he brought her a glass of I e water when she went to sit outside to compose herself).

They have various ghost tours which were fun. We did a sunset cruise, but it was kind of meh (the food was merely ok).

I am sure that @MickeyCB can give you way more recommendations as if I am not mistaken, Seth went to art school there.

Thought I’d specifically tag @Songbird76 because her TR of her non Disney vacation last year (the year before?) sounded like she saw some really great national parks.

I loved Yellowstone (Wyoming) and the Black hills of South Dakota. There's so much to see in that large area, and it's really conducive to driving. It's really easy driving as well. Wide roads, little traffic, beautiful scenery.

Stoner's Pizza! 🤣
I'm only half way kidding, it's the best freakin pizza!
I'll ask my son for some ideas of things to see in Savannah. It is a gorgeous place, but in the summer it's hot and humid as the surface of the sun combined with a tropical rain forest.

@TheMouseFan Assuming you've been to some of the places close to y'all like Louisville, Indianapolis, etc? If you want to go a bit farther, I saw someone recommended Pigeon Forge and that could be fun! We're going again over spring break, but staying with family and just going to Dollywood for a day. I get overwhelmed by the crowds in Gatlinburg, so skipping that.

Even though I roll my eyes at all the Nashville tourists, I think you can have a really good time there if you do stuff besides get drunk on Broadway for your bachelorette party 😏 There are some GREAT hiking areas in TN if you do come here! Not where I live, unfortunately, but middle and east TN are beautiful.

@TheMouseFan I am in middle TN and would be happy to give you any tips if you are interested in Nashville area or Pigeon Forge. There is definitely more to do in the Nashville area than drinks and country music on Broadway!
