Tree of life 'grows' new roots

I'll miss the gardens, but this needed to happen. We're going to have a massive new African marketplace that will hopefully be an immersive experience in itself, we'll be able to escape to Pandora, and we'll be able to celebrate the natural world with a light show in this new massive hub at the end of the night. I feel like Rhode is going to make this place a really transformational and spiritual piece of entertainment.

Any thoughts on what's going on in this area? It looks like a hatch for maintenance access, but why is it so accessible? Prepping for Rivers of Light show infrastructure?

I am shocked, while the rest of Walt Disney World seems to be loosing direction Epcot and DHS in particular AK is pushing theming, story, and ingenuity. They care about the park and it shows a lot. It is a brilliantly designed park, so many little charming corners.
Animal Kingdom is awesome - they have to kick us out of there when we visit. Beautiful park

I'm interested to know if this is due in part to Joe Rhode being "in charge" (not sure if he's in charge, or just lead imagineer) over at AK and wonder who's in charge of the other parks imagineering-wise.

It will be interesting what Rhode does with AvatarLand. EPCOT I think has Tim Fitzgerald ??? I may be wrong.

Debatable, when you think of the thematic intent of Avatar and how it really isn't related to DAK's original aims.

echoing many peoples thought, I grow tired of the removal of trees, and greenery in the parks, for wide open highway looking expances of pavement. Magic Kingdom hub, is an abomination, now Animal Kingdom, the park that is supposed to be wooded and green!

Agree, however there's only so much they can do with the pathways if the number of guests grows. They're being pro-active. One bonus to this is it will allow for more breeze in that area. AK park is the hottest of the theme parks as the amount of vegetation traps the humidity and blocks breeze. I was also hoping they'd add more misters to this park for the summer. As we always seem to be traveling in July & August, those things are a godsend.

They are adding them to MK new hub landscape
It's looking pretty good so far! Much more reflective of a proper castle court when it's done than before all this with lots of green and sculptured topiaries. What we can't expect are tall trees in the center loops.
