Travel Agent or Not??

Hi, I was wanting to find out if most of you go through a travel agent to book your trip? I have tried that and by doing it on-line at the Disney web site and it is more expensive to do it at the Disney site. Do you suggest any good places to book that has good deals?

Thank You, Susan

Ditto.

I only use them for getting a room, and they have ALWAYS found what I wanted for less than what I could find on the Disney website. However, as with all things, the more flexibility you have, the better your chances of getting a deal.

I ALWAYS use a travel agent....of course, I also have a fantastic one whom I am now friends with.

I do research myself, which helps narrow down a few things, making her job easier....but she always goes the extra mile.

Call AAA, Kingdom Konsultants, or your local travel agent, You won't be sorry.

After doing many many trips on my own I decided to try Kingdom Konsultants. Marie has been very helpful so far and made sure that we got what we wanted and that deposots were paid on time. We will be traveling next summer with 14 people so to have one contact person is key for us this time around. I couldn't have imagined trying to do it all by myself. If things continue to work out with KK I'l probably never do one by myself again.

Personally I prefer to deal with Disney directly and always book through the Disney Travel Company. I don't book online, I like to talk to the people at DTC on the phone and book that way. The CM I spoke with on Monday to book my stay at the WL for next December was fantastic. She got us the room we wanted and everything and made the whole experience enjoyable and her happiness was infectious.:D

I say definitely use a travel agent. It makes everything so much easier.
While I have heard rave reviews about Kingdom Konsultants from this site. I use another agent that deals with Disney vacations that is called Mouse Ears Vacations.
I think either one you go with would be fantastic!

Another vote for Kingdom Konsultants here. Pam and her team are fantastic! They always deliver and never disappoint. I really appreciate that they will monitor my reservation for a newly released discount and then automatically rebook me at the lower rate. One phone call and then they do all the work :sohappy:!

I used KK for my last trip and they took care of everything even setting up my ADR for the free dinning. I always feel more comfortable using a travel agent since it give you some recorse if there are any issues you call the travel agent and have them take care of it instead of having to wait on the phone to resolve anyting.

As a travel journalist, I want to tell you how much cash you can save by doing this on your own! Even websites like Travelocity and Expedia charge a little extra for services.
To do it on your own, my advice would be to locate the deal (for example, a good price on flights from Delta listed on Expedia) and then go to the airlines/hotels/who-evers website and find the deal there- minus surcharges.

However, if you don't want to take the time to do a lil research, a company is a great way to go. I've heard good things about KK, but I've used Small World Vacations and loved them. My agent got me an impossible dinner reservation, and changed plans for me at the last possible minute.

I have never used one in the past. I do the leg work myself, checking rates, checking discounts, playing the what it I leave on this day or that day game, what does airfare and the room come out to.

However, now I am in the DVC and that sort of makes the room a done deal.

After joining here, I heard about KK, and as luck would have it, they are also nearby (sort of).

I have another trip planned for next April, and I think I will see what they can do with airfare.

I also am thinking about doing another cruise somtime in 09. If KK turns to be everything I have heard they are, then I will be most assuredly going thought them for that.

Thank you for all of the rave reviews. We do try our best to get a discount for our clients. Very rarely do we not find one. We do book vacations and room only reservation for quite a few of the forum members on this site and we are extremely grateful to all of them and especially to Steve for having us.
